Re: Counter surfing puppy

Thanks for all the input. Trying to get the teenagers and the hubby to always put dishes in the dishwasher and not just leave them on the sink might be more of a challenge then getting the dog to stop counter surfing. I will take all of your suggestions and put them to work. He doesn't just lo...

Re: Counter surfing puppy

The kitchen area is attached to the family room and it is a wide space between the rooms. A baby gate is not possible there. He has a beautiful indoor kennel with his soft crate and a pillow, but we only put him in there for bed and when we leave the house. He is gated off from the living room, he i...

How did all of you get your pups to mouth gently? My boy was rescued at an early age. Six weeks apx. He is 5 months now. He does not have good bite inhibition. Yelping just makes him crazy and he starts jumping on us. What can we do to get him to "hold hands" without hurting?

Thanks everyone. Kirk knows the down/wait command very well, but when he is in that crazie mood he doesn't respond to any command. Just a few minutes ago he went after my daughter again when she got home from work. She walked away and closed the door behind her. Everytime she came out he went for it...

Thank you I will try to order a copy asap. If we can learn to play without triggering an episode of the crazies then that would be great.

Thank you for the advice. We try to play calm games like hide the treat under a cup, like the shell game. He loves that game. I also play a lot of ball with him. Still working on getting him to bring it back, he wants me to chase him, but then that leads to psycho dog. He can get the lid off of plas...

Need help with puppy!

I have a 5 month old puppy, Kirk, that my daughter rescued from the streets. He was roughly 6 weeks old, according to our Vet, and 4 pounds when she first brought him home. He is now 30 pounds and doing very well, happy and healthy and beautiful. He is a chocolate lab mix, we are thinking pit bull, ...

potty training

The best advice I ever got on line was the wake up at night and take your puppy out for a potty. We were using pads at night and he just got confused. It's my daughter's puppy and she set her alorm every few hours for the first several weeks and got up to take Kirk out. He is 14 weeks now an never p...
