Re: Dog poos in house
The dog is "leash" trained to go potty. When we adopted him, we lived in an apartment and he had to go on a leash. When we moved into our house, we didn't have a fenced in yard, or a dog run so pretty much his entire life has been going potty on the leash. We go in the same spot every time...

Dog poos in house
Hi all. I have a 7 year old Border Collie/blue healer/mutt (105 pounds) dog. He's been a sweet dog, but recently is showing some signs I don't think I like. The biggest is when he uses the bathroom in the house. The dog was trained from puppyhood that he was to ring a bell and he gets to go outside....

Re: Need new tools for my walk.
Thanks. I've started this with my neighbors dog. So far I can't make it past them without Bullet reacting. We only work about 10 minutes a day, don't want to over do it, and when I get frusterated that is when it's time to stop. He's getting better though, we can actually walk right up to them now a...

Re: Need new tools for my walk.
I've been sick so I am sorry I didn't get to reply sooner. I will check out the web site and take the tips to hart. You see, pulling isn't the real issue. He is fine unless there's another dog. Stopping and getting him to sit and "watch me" is not happening especially if the other dog is o...

Need new tools for my walk.
Hi all. I have a 100 lb border collie/blue healer mix. He could be part husky as well the way he pulls. We rescued him as a puppy about 6 years ago and he's a great dog. The only problem is his pulling. For a while I was able to keep him from dragging me all over the neighborhood. I'd use commands l...

Training a dog to sniff out dangers
Hi all. My sister has 4 wonderful dogs. 2 golden retrievers, and 2 newfies. She is also very sick with cealic disease. This means eating any food with gluten causes her to get very sick and put in the hospital. We found an article about a dog who learned to sniff out gluten and wondering if we could...

Touch of the runs
Hi all. My dog is Bullet a 100 lb border collie/blue healer/mutt. He was out playing last night and I caught him eating some unknown weeds. I stopped play shortly after, and didn't think much of it, as Bullet eats almost everything. (I think he's part lab) The weeds are in our yard so no worries of ...

Re: Eating Trash
I have suggested many of these options to my friend. She is retired, and stays home most of the day. Doesn't matter weather the owner is home, or away, the dog likes trash. I told her to get some stuffed kongs to allow the dog a treat to chew on instead of trash, and recommend she gets a can with a ...

Eating Trash
Hi. My friend has a black lab that is now 9 months old. He is totally out of control, but I have been working with her. The dog now sits, stays, and doesn't dash out the door. "Leave it" is a difficult command for the dog, but he is getting better. My friend needs to work with him more tha...

Baby Walks
Hi all. I have a 100 pound dog bullet. He's a mix of border collie, blue healer, and who knows what. Overall Bullet is great with our new son (11 months) Although the 2 still have issues, I know Bullet has finally accepted him as part of our pack. But that is not the problem The problem comes when i...

Re: Dog afraid of noises
Thanks guys I'll have to try some of these out. Bullet already has a kennel that is stuffed with warm fuzzy things. He spends the night there willingly and lots of the day when he can't go outside. I'll try to have him realize it is a safe place to go during a thunderstorm. My biggest problem is I h...

Re: Help with walking.
We tried a body harness with our dog which is 100 pounds. All that did was give him the ability to pull not only me, but my husband as well. Maybe it was the wrong kind of harness, but I could not hold him back. A gentle leader was good for a while, until he learned how to turn his head and snap the...

Dog afraid of noises
Hi all. I have a 4 year old 100 pound border collie/blue healer/something big mixed dog. He is a good dog over all, and a good protector. We've had him since he was 2 months old and is a rescue dog. In the years past, little has bothered Bullet. He never minded thunder, firecrackers, or the gun rang...

Re: Walking dog and baby
Thanks for the tips, I'll check out the other thread to keep my dog busy during the day. We do have a kong toy we stuff and freeze with treats such as turkey, or all natural peanut butter, but that takes him less than an hour so other games are needed as well. Bullet is not aggressive towards other ...

Walking dog and baby
Hi everyone. I have a few problems with my 100 pound border collie / blue healer / ? He is overall a great dog to have around, and a good protector. He does know how to walk with me on a loose leash although I wouldn't call it heeling. Bullet has one BIG problem and that is the inability to control ...
