Like the others said. :) When I got our pup, gone were the regular pajamas. I sleep in shorts and tees in the summer, like loose workout shorts, and then sweats in the winter. Although now they are coming out with really cute fleecy pj pants which I find in the mens department - I have pairs wth yel...

<Firstly> True. When my pup has an ear infection, she usually gets oral medication plus the ear drops. As a note on just the general ear maintenance, I'll squeeze the cleaner on a cotton ball and use that. Vet showed me how the ear canal goes quite deep and I won't hurt her if I push the cotton in. ...

Have your boyfriend hold lots of treats to keep her attention. Don't let her get them right away so that she has to work at it. While she is distracted, try cleaning her ears.

If that doesn't work, I've smeared peanut butter on the frig door to keep their attention.

I too had the problem of finding bedding for my crate. Either too big and fluffy, or not the right size. I happened to be walking through the bedding section at Walmart and saw that they sold bed sized pieces of the egg crate foam. I think a twin was only around $10. Picked that up and cut to size t...

I smear a bit of peanut butter on the frig door at their level, and they are so excited to lick away that I can brush or nail clip and they don't even care.

I've used these pill pockets. Very handy. They are soft so you can form it around the pill and if pills are small, can break the pocket in half. Pup gulps them down and doesn't realize he's taken medicine. :)

We got a new Golden puppy back in mid May. We too work long hours, but had a petsitter come in during the day to take care of our pup. We had no problems with housebreaking. Petsitter needs to come often enough that they can take the pup out before they have to leave a mess in the kitchen. Check out...

I saw an episode where Victoria fed the dog pineapple, because she said it makes the poop taste really bad.

Nettle - yes, did a LOT of research before taking that step. One of the vets in the animal hospital where I go has a lot of experience with this particular surgery so yes, we were lucky. No problems at all.

Even with firm poops, my Golden always had problems with her anal glands. We ended up having them surgically removed. So much better - no more butt dragging.

constant barking with new puppy

Have a golden retriever puppy, about 4-1/2 months old. Doing pretty good with training, except new thing is now constant barking. Seems to always bark at my DH. We're going to a training class and trainer told us when she barks to put her in her crate as a time out. However, once she's in the crate,...

Dogz - we are in the same boat. 15 week old Golden. From day one (at 8 weeks) poop has always been very runny, or pudding consistency. She was first on the breeder's dog food. Since we can't get that in our area, we weaned her onto Nature's Recipe for Large Breed Puppies. Had to mix a bit of wet in ...

Reverse pulling on a leash when going for a walk?

I have a 14 week old Golden puppy. Has been doing okay on walks, except lately she is dragging her feet and not wanting to walk with me. She'll pull backwards and eventually sit down. If I turn back towards home though, then she will race to the front and pull me down the street. I don't recall anyt...

I too have found great pet sitters thru petsit.com. And you can search internationally - under the 'locate a pet sitter' in the upper right screen, you can scroll down to search in different parts of world. You said UK, I found alot under Great Britain. :D

Get her interested in a treat. Then place the treat in the cage, close to the opening. Gradually work it so that she has to enter the entire cage to get the treat at the back. That worked for my puppy. Although once in the crate, she still makes a fuss until she settles down. Sometimes when she is t...
