AH!!!!! Maybe that is why my pom jumps up and barks when I give her the stay command. I never realized I should not be bending over her.

She's been really good about learning the sit command. But the stay part of it is NOT working.

I think part of the problem is the kitchen is too large of an area. Confine him to a crate when you are not at home - at least till potty training is complete.

I'm no dog expert....this is only an idea....

thanks! I'll try keeping the treat visible. Some of the confusion might be because I treat with my right hand but give the signal with my left hand. I am sure if I just turned my back and walked away she would follow me which is not really the result I want. She wouldn't go back into a sit position....

NEED HELP!!! teaching sit stay

I have a 5 month Pomeranian who gets the 'sit' command - when she knows I have food. She still does not pay attention when she has more interesting surroundings. I am trying to teach sit stay with no luck. She sits but as soon as I say 'stay' and give a flat palm signal she jumps up and tries to get...

Great! Looks like I'm on the right page. I take her around the block which takes about 20 minutes. She usually is eager to walk the whole thing but once in a while she wants to be picked up so I carry her for a minute or two and then she is eager to get back down and walk again. I didn't realize I s...

how much exercise is right?

I have a 5 month old pomeranian puppy. I take her for a walk every day for exercise but I don't know how long and/or far to walk her. How much is appropriate. I am afraid I might be walking her too much or too little.

looking for old UK episode with chiahuahua

Does anyone know how I can find an old episode? I REALLY need to see this episode again. A friend has a chiahuahua with similar issues. I remember Victoria said the lady needed to stop treating the dog like a cat. I need to remember how Victoria helped the lady get the dog to accept the leash. I rem...
