Re: My labradale puppy goes hyper once out the crate!
My dog had similar problems with her crate. She doesn't bite or growl, but would tear through the house, jumping on people, and at 70 pounds, that becomes a problem fast. This helped me: I put her in the crate, closed the door, and waited for her to be calm, then sat down in front of the crate, open...

Training Other People / Excitability
I have a four (?) year old sighthound mix of some sort. They said wolfhound, we're thinking staghound or lurcher. Either way, she's mostly a mutt with sighthound body and chase instincts. Her name is Morgan. I just recently adopted a small terrier/brittany mix. She's slightly larger than a house cat...

Throat Thumping
Morgan, again. Not really a bad behavior, just weird. I'm not really concerned so much as curious. She's started running randomly around an area, nose to the ground, sniffing. But not just sniffing, she's making this thumping sound in her throat, I think it's from the speed at which she's breathing ...

One Accident messes everything up
I've been here about Morgan before. She likes to poop in the living room. Not pee, only poop. So the last time we had this problem, I figure well, I guess she was never really trained. So we did the whole leash and treat and YOU'RE SUCH A GOOD PUPPY! deal for going outside, and she stopped pooping i...

If your dog doesn't work for treats, try something else. Toys, attention, fun/play, and walking are other ideas. You are lucky if you have a dog that works harder for something other than treats... it's much more healthy for you and the dog! She's a tough'un. I think I have her figured out, though....

She's walked every day, and I feed her Diamond. Anyway, she finally went! Yay! She was peeing for like fifteen seconds. I guess she just had performance anxiety or something. She poo'd right after that, too. So we're a-ok, now. I cooked up some italian sausage I'm going to try for treats. As I've me...

Poo Questions
Morgan (14 monthsish, wolfhound/lab mix) has gone poo in the living room a couple of times. So I've put her on a short leash, and we're going back to step one, potty training. She's on a six foot leash or in her crate, at all times. The leash is attached to my ankle, I even take her to the bathroom ...

I'm guessing it's a shelter guess, but I'm pretty sure they guessed right. She's got the sighthound build -- thin, with a deep chest. She looks exactly like a smaller, slightly less hairy, and black colored wolfhound. The resemblance really is striking. If she isn't wolfhound, she's an amazing imita...

Morgan is a one year old wolfhound/lab mix. I've started trying to clicker train her, but I can't find anything she cares enough about to work for. She knows that the click means treats, she'll look at me when I click, and eat whatever I give her, but she doesn't seem to care enough to actually try ...

I've had an epiphany. All of her problems while leash walking are a direct result of the leash itself. We took her and Random (my friend's 4 month old hound type) to the lake. Morgan was easily the most well behaved dog there, and she was off leash most of the time. Lots of people, at least 8 other ...

Episodes Online
I own a TV, but it's only used for game stations. I've taken to watching all of my TV, and even rented movies, online.
I noticed Animal Planet has one full episode of IMOTD online, and was wondering if there are any plans to make this a regular thing?

Couple of Issues with large dog
Rescued Morgan from a shelter a month ago. She's a year old Irish Wolfhound/Lab mix. She's about 65 pounds, and quite strong. I've been having a few small issues with her that I wanted to get some opinions on. First, walking. When we got her she was a puller, and I mean bad puller. If I didn't have ...
