Re: Help! Problem with Dodger just appeared quickly, and badly!
Thank you, Emma. The good news is, his hand isn't broken. Now that the pain is simmering down a bit, my husband says it all feels muscular, rather than the bone in his thumb. As soon as the incident happened, the kitchen trash can went out on the enclosed back porch. He normally doesn't have this ty...

Help! Problem with Dodger just appeared quickly, and badly!
I found out about a behavior that my youngest has been doing with Dodger (which I was formerly unaware) when playing with him, and that was if Dodger had his ball, my youngest would essentially hit the ball out of his mouth - using something else, poke the side of it so that it fell out of Dodger's ...

Re: Barking in the evening, or even whenever
I agree with you, I do think it is the equipment that they bring in that is triggering him. Even after the termite guy left last week, Dodger was sniffing around where he had set his bag in the hallway. And when my father in law was here, it was the torch and the gloves that set him off - gloves, an...

Re: Dog that won't fetch
With Dodger it depends on the mood he's in, or his energy level in that particular play session. He may start out fine fetching, and running gung ho, but after a few minutes, he may run to the toy/rope/ball, etc, and not bring it back. That's our sign usually that he wants to switch to tug, either w...

Re: Barking in the evening, or even whenever
Oh, and as another note - the only other area that we haven't had a ton of success with Dodger's training is when workmen come to the house. He loves receiving company, but if someone is carrying something into the house, like say the Orkin man, or when my father in law brought an torch over to thaw...

Barking in the evening, or even whenever
WE've been having moderate success training Dodger, although we are still working on his separation anxiety, but has made great strides with that. But that isn't our current problem. Just in the past month or so, Dodger has started barking - non-stop, rather high pitch. He'll accompany this with che...

Another question
Okay, when a family member got a new dog a couple of years ago, their Aussie Shepherd starting gaining weight - evidently he's starting to actually take food out of their hands, and when he gets done eating his meals, he goes over and takes the other dog's meals (which is probably why the dog is und...

Won't go outside without me!
Dodger has a bit of separation anxiety, and it's gotten a bit worse. When we first got Dodger, he was absolutely stuck to me. He's at least expanded that little world to include Bill, my husband. Now I'm not going to ask about how to deal with the separation issues when we are gone, we are slowly wo...

Thank you for asking this question. Both Loth, our last dog, and Dodger, our current dog, have had this issue. Actually, Dodger has issues with most loud noises, but usually he recovers quickly, and comes to check out what made the noise. HOwever, with thunder (and so, by default, storms), he become...

Poor Doger
Okay, when we were cleaning my bedroom, I noticed there was on particular stuffed animal of mine that Dodger kept nosing at - so we figured Dodger wanted a stuffed animal. Hubby went out and got Dodger this little bitty sqeaky squirrel. It took Dodger about 4 hours to get it so I had to take the squ...
