Re: barking sounds different?
He's starting to sound a lot better. The vet said just rest it and prevent him from barking a while to see if it gets better.

barking sounds different?
hithere. I haven't been posting for a while now, but I'm back. Anyways, so we were gone on a cruise for a week and when we came home our Chigi, Sam, greeted us and acted all happy and fine like a normal dog, but he was shivering in the cold (normal right?). Just a while after, we heard his barking a...

Re: Neighbors...grrrr
Have you ever thought about going over and talking with him? And from the sound of this reminds me of a good Halloween scare (ok probably shouldn't be joking sorry)

Re: Other dogs
Update: It's been raining and we haven't been able to take him out, but when it stops for a few minutes I'll take him out to the backyard and continue training. Once I took him outside and right away we saw a rabbit and he completely lost control. Why is it that dogs act up when they see other anima...

Re: grass
It's not patches of grass that are missing. It's whole sections. There are patches of LIVING grass, so the dead grass is everywhere and overpowering the live grass

Re: grass
I've sat there reading while keeping an eye on the dogs but never actually caught them doing it. During the day the dogs are outside so we can't watch them at that time. We've blocked off every little hole possible and with the dogs outside all the time a rabbit can't possibly come inside.

Re: grass
Well we haven't actually seen them munching on the grass, and it's a pretty decent sized yard (not sure exactly now big).

Re: Other dogs
But this only works in the backyard. When he's out in the real world he won't listen at all. You can't even urge him to eat it or sniff it. It's like trying to get a toddler to eat his spinach/beans or something.

Re: Other dogs
That's what I've been doing. The uturn trick in our fenced backyard, but he acts the same way. He doesn't seem to want to turn around while on a leash, but if you were to take him off leash and guide him with a treat he follows. Should I just do it off leash first and then introduce the leash? And w...

Re: Other dogs
He doesn't seem to be afraid of other dogs. Sometimes when in the park the other dog would just run up to us leash free and Buddy would start sniffing and his tail would start wagging and he'd get into the bow position and want to play with the other dog. I've actually been practicing the u-turn tri...

Re: Other dogs
the u turn trick doesn't work. buddy refuses to go the other direction once he's already WALKED in that direction. he wants to continue walking FORWARD because i'm guessing he thinks we're about to turn home and end our walk early or something :? do i just gently urge him to turn or do i try a diffe...

grass
we have sooo many patches of missing grass in our backyard. wait, no, they aren't patches, it's just like lots of grass missing and patches of LIVE grass, so my mom thinks the dogs were the ones who sat there eating them and plucking them. I honestly don't think two dogs (one small one medium) can p...

Re: Other dogs
he's a year and a half and we've tried chicken and everything. it's not just that he ignores it when he's near a dog, but he totally ignores it when he's on a walk. all his focus is to the ground (sniffing) or just trying to get to a pole to sniff or something. ill try the u turn trick, but im not s...
