Hi

Hi all - Haven't been here in a very long time! Great new site!! Have a lot of 'catching up' on the reading to do!!
Just a shot of Teddy in his favorite spot. He went from a 'pound puppy' a year ago to 'King of the Couch'

but I would like to be able to keep them in the same room without always having to have one or the other locked up.(plus I don't want the puppy picking up bad habits) Not sure what you meant...cats, dogs, birds out together in the same room? If so, from everything I have read, heard from other peop...

You started the original post back in March...are you still talking about the same pup? I would say either way, if they have never had shots...add 3 months to their age and that is when they will have their complete set of "puppy vaccinations"

Yes - definately plan ahead...and move your stuff to a safe place! I had my house somewhat childproof before we got the puppy-Teddy-have made the extra effort to check and make sure things are put up, trash can is out of sight, and he hasn't chewed up anything of value...except once- totally my faul...

Neither of my dogs really like the water either. We have a river that runs along the backside of the fields that we go to, to fish and swim. What I have noticed, if the kids and I are in the water, the dogs eventually get in. The Aussie will go in about 2 inches and lay down and with a lot of encour...

I think I saw here on a thread somewheres --please don't quote me if I am wrong - 2-3 hours during the day for being in a crate during the day. Being that you work from home, you are in charge of your own hours...start earlier, work later and take a lot breaks during the day for her. How about one o...

Hmm... couldn't he be a mix of all 3?

This is what I call mine when someone asks...an "All American Pound Hound"
Of course I get head tilts and Hmms, "never heard of that breed"

What time do you offer her dinner? Do you take her out for a nice walk and offer to take her out a couple of times in between or after the walk to go to the bathroom in the evening after her dinner and then again before you are ready to settle down for the night? Maybe you may need to look at how yo...

Hey, I found the actual website for it- http://www.stopet.co.uk/. Let me ask you guys this - those that are more experienced with the clicker-- after you read how it says you are supposed to use it-- It says you can use it like a clicker for behaviours you want or "roll it" to interupt beh...

No need for "counter surfing" here...

Not when the dogs have their good buddy the cat to do it for them!! I 99% of the time make sure there is nothing left out. Last night I needed to get the kids ready for baths and left the table without cleaning it off. After getting the kids going, went down stairs to clean up and I found the cat on...

Hi, I have been going through the puppy training with 2 young children- mine are 4 and 7 and our pup is around 7 months old now. We didn't have much trouble with the mouthing/nipping- when he did we would "yelp", walk away, end play I had started out doing the training myself, but noticed ...

Yes, retrain her like Mattie said. I have done what she has suggested with my now 6+ month old pup, I got him when he was about 12 weeks old, and he can be trusted in the house. (I actually stopped locking him in the crate after the first 2-3 weeks.) Also during the first weeks I kept a leash on him...
