Re: rescue dog

Hi again, Sorry about all the typos before but I accidentally hit submit before proofreading. But also, your Dad is correct to some extent, that this dog should not bark or display aggression toward him period. Like nip his feet and ankles, this is all dominant behavior which needs to be corrected. ...

Re: rescue dog

Hi, For one without actually seeing him in "action" I would have to just guess that with the baby your dog is not really jealous but looking at you as his possession and this baby is interfereing wiht what is his. Dogs are pack animals and you are part of his pack, this new "member&qu...

Re: Welsh ban on shock collars

I'm in the US but I am one that feels breeding laws need to be more stringent. I feel 200% that pet stores should not be allowed to sell pets. Simply becasue they are kept in small cages and learn many bad behaviors before going to new owners, who then usually do not know how to handle or properly t...

Re: The point in clicker training?

Hi, You do not have to use a clicker, I (we) for example use the YES to "mark" the behavior or action we like. This type of training is basic operant conditioning. if you remember learning about Pavlov's dogs inschool, it is the same principle. The dog does something we like, aka sit, we m...

Re: Eating To Fast?!

Hi, Hopefully you found a solution. But if not I'll throw my 2 cents in.... One problem you may be seeing,is that if that puppy was the runt, he most likly had to fight for food and eat it quickly before his littermates stole it from him once they were on solids. This happens alot, especially if bre...

Re: Major UK Pet Food Brands - Who owns which

Interesting stuff. See, but I perosnally would not feed my pets any of those brands, especially when there are far beter holistic products out there that a comparable in price to those listed. Especially the Hill's. i know I converted our neighbor who trusted their vet 110% and was sold on Hills, th...

Re: 7 month Heeler still chewing on wood furniture?

Hi, If she EATS the wood it is called PICA, or eating non food items. PICA in dogs can be caused by other things besides something lacking in her diet. I'm not too familiar with the heeler breed in great detail, but some breeds, like our German Shepherds are prone to pancreatic enzyme disorders wher...

Yup I am here in South Dakota. So lucky for me yearly vaccines are not done and rabies only bi-annually, and I titer my dogs to avoid the shot altogether, your state may allow that. HOWEVER, and with any luck the bill that is waiting to pass on rabies will go through in the states this year. It will...

Re: Diamond? Recalls...?

Hi, Yes regarding Ethoxyquin just so ev1 knows. In the USA ALL fish meals are still preserved with ethoxyquin. THis is some ridiculous law on the books that has yet to be changed, but pet food manufacturers do not need to state this on their product. This is another law that really needs to be chang...

Re: What food does Victoria feeds her pets?

You know I cannot say and I haven't read her book that deals with feeding. But based on some of the episodes I have seen there have been a few that give me the inckling that she may feed a homemade or raw product or mix of raw/cooked with high quality holistic/organic kibble. Just a stab in the dark...

Re: Chronic Wasting Disease (North american)

Yeah, it's not panic situation, but is still out there and something to be aware of. Out here where I am, in S Dakota, which is a big gaming area, Fish and Games periodically goes and "removes" any deer or antelope that they find are behaving in an odd or sickly manor. So other states that...

Hi Noobs, We get some dogs that refuse to eat the shell so for those we add a calcium supplement because that is what the shell adds. You can use regular human calcium vitamin supplements. For the raw diet the meat is all raw. But we have had a few rescues come through that we transitioned over to a...

Re: high protien= more reactive, hyper, aggressive dogs?

Hi, Here is a copy of our raw diet for a male GSD 90lbs, you wil see it is not all meat. Andnot just chicken wings but a variety of meats. We also during hunting season include wild turkey and venison, which dogs absolutely love the venison and antelope. So feeding a proper raw diet like this is not...
