quarantine's scary

Hi! I've done some research on quarantining pets - not where you're going, but in NZ, where we hope to retire w/our dogs. I found a lot of relevant information on-line from ex-pat sites, and people who'll correspond via e-mail who've been through the experience previously. One of the things we learn...

Thank you!

Emmabeth - Thank you for finally mentioning caniX! I've now seen the episode twice where Victoria uses the waist tether w/natural 'mushing' dogs, and couldn't get the product name, for I believe she only mentions it once! Now, the challenge will be to find it in the States. Many products mentioned I...

Members - suggestions that have worked w/your dogs?

Thanks for your suggestions. We have several puzzle toys. The one they work on the longest is the simple 'tricky ball' which you fill with treats and they roll or toss it around to periodically release the treats. I prefer that toy, as well, for it's a little exercise, they can play together, and I ...

Click during everday activities

Every new puppy is anxious to learn, in a positive, non-scary way. I've found, after many litters of puppies I fostered, that potty training can be the easiest time to start clicker training. Puppy is carried to the area you've determined is acceptable to potty in, immediately upon waking, before me...

Husky Chews Door Molds!

Our 9-month Siberian Husky recently started chewing our wood trim around the house - door moldings specifically. She's destroyed 4 door casings, which we've had patched/replaced. The last occurrence was when left alone for an hour after a 2.5 mile walk/run! And I'd left her a peanut butter and dog c...

Doggie Vest Works Wonders w/Tripod!

I have a rescued tripod (missing rear leg), and swimming was prescribed as a necessary exercise for strengthening his remaining back leg. I found a doggie life vest at a local dog specialty store and it's worked fabulously! From our first outing, after 1/2 hour of tenuousness near and in the water, ...

Kong stuffing alternative

Try cream cheese, chunky peanut butter, kibble or dog cookie deep inside w/a "plug" of gooier stuff (cream cheese, squirt cheese or PB) so texture changes as they work through layers of stuffing. I read about 'frozen Kong' treats, which I've got to research. One of my dogs loves anything s...

Harness Used on show to pull owners weight?

My dogs love this show! They both watch every minute! Last month an episode aired where Victoria was working w/2 large dogs, one's an akita mix, I believe. Of course, as usual, some of their behavior problems were due to lack of exercise. At the end, she fitted the dogs w/special harnesses which att...
