Actually, I got a nasty bruise from a 16 pound lhasa with very few teeth (the dog was 16 years old at the time - now 18 and still going strong!)

On the farting issue, my ex's dog, Katie, has a funny habit. When she farts, she will sniff her own butt as if to say, "Did I do that?" My FUNNIEST dog story, however, has to do with my current dog, Rusty. I think I've posted it on these forums before, but I will share it again in case any...

Perhaps the Kong is another trigger

If the dog only gets the Kong when you go out (and many do) it could also be another trigger. In that case, using the Kong and the keys as triggers would seem to work in the way you explained.

I am from NJ. You usually get the license from the township where you live. If you want to send me a message with the town you live in, I will get you the information.

I found a local pet sitter that has dogs stay at her home using the Pet Sitters International website. You can find it at www.petsit.com. I was pleased with the person I chose.

I have 1 dog, a tomato frog, an african clawed frog and a catfish. I also co-own (with my ex-husband) 2 more dogs and 3 cats. (When I go over there to pet-sit, it is quite a menagerie!)

large breed

Be aware that large breed puppies can have growth problems if they are not fed a diet with appropriate balance of calcium, potassium, etc. Large breed puppy foods (as opposed to just general puppy foods) are specifically formulated to avert some of the typical problems that can arise.

different style of harness

Rusty uses a comfort wrap harness that doesn't have to slip over his head. His feet go through the holes, and then the harness clasps at the back. This might work if the issue is strictly with going over the head.

last question

So you think it is worth it to wrestle him into the car and bring him to daycare 2-3 times a week?

Daycare or dog walker?

I got Rusty back in October, and I have been lucky enough be working from home most of the time since the beginning of November. He goes to daycare once or twice a week now, especially on days when I do go into the office. The problem is, he absolutely hates getting in the car. Once he is in the car...

Depends on the dog

To me, the difficulties are different from dog to dog. With my first Lhasa, the biggest difficulty was potty training. It turns out that a good deal of his issue was caused by allergies. Eventually, it got to the point that I would go away on business, call home, and my husband would tell me the dog...

kennel

In your original post, you mention a kennel. Is this an indoor or outdoor kennel? Or are you talking about a crate? I only ask, because in my mind it is nicer for a dog to run free in an outdoor kennel than to be stuck on a chain. And you could build a 5X15 foot run with chicken wire fencing for und...

car sickness

It's pretty obvious that your dog suffers from car sickness. Thiink about it - if you knew that getting in the car meant that you were going to get nauseous and vomit, would you want to do it? That said, why don't you try giving him a ginger snap some time before getting in the car. Ginger is valuab...
