Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

We are going to have to do more work on paw desensitization. T got something (a burr maybe - I removed several off his coat) in his paw and I couldn't see a thing but he was not happy at having it looked at. At all. So later I wanted to trim the hair on his laws - it really, really doesn't hurt - bu...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Today we are dealing with obscenely massive poos from Mr Timber. Yesterday evening we were out and spontaneously decided to have a bar supper. I had none of his food with us so I popped into a local shop and bought a tray of good quality wet food (I know, I know ...) My poor boy has been producing h...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Thank you all for the brilliant tips - even the one that involves no wine and chocolate! The bruising is spreading out and it feels a bit better today, I may try a hobble out later but Mr F is promoted to chief dog walker for now.

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Thanks - I taped it to the next toe (which is about all that can be done) and it hurts a lot but is bearable as long as I don't do anything daft. Like standing up.

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

We are up to very little today - I think I have broken a toe. We have two new chairs, larger than the ones they replaced, so I misjudged them yesterday and stubbed my little toe so hard it was sticking out at an angle. I tried to walk Timber this morning but only got a few yards so Mr F has had to t...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

I am a little unhappy as I was in a shop this morning - the kind that sells all sorts - and they had prong collars.

Horrible.

I have only once been impressed by seeing one used - Timber's trainer has one on her office wall for hanging her jackets.

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

I try to avoid the beach local to me if it's busy but the nature of summers in Scotland means that seldom happens and we can use it most of the time (we are on holiday at the moment and the beach here prohibits dogs). But I read somewhere that the UK coastline belongs to the Crown, so local authorit...

I can tell you what we won't be doing today. We are by miles and miles of beautiful sandy beach, but dogs aren't allowed on it ... :(

Re: sleep

Just a stab in the dark but is it possible that something on his last scheduled trip outside is unsettling him? Maybe wildlife, a local female dog in season, a sound he is hearing that you haven't heard or picked up as a possible trigger? Can you change the routine by making his last scheduled trip ...

Timber often has his lipstick out too - usually when he is lying relaxed.

@judyn said "Is Timber a licky dog??? "

Oh dear Dog yes, I'm afraid so. Tonight he has not been allowed to!

Sorry I haven't worked out quotes of just parts of posts!
