Re: First Dog - What is Normal for 15 week old puppy?

I have no advice to add as I think it's all been said. This probably won't make you feel better but my beagle puppy is 7 months old tomorrow and we still struggle with all these things, dependent on what frame of mind Dudley is in. I've come to the view that it takes as long as it takes and there is...

Re: 7 month puppy scared of stairs

Thanks both for your replies. Erica - the stairs are carpeted. I have been putting him on the bottom stairs with treats to get him used to it. Or as suggested sitting underneath a few stairs. I'll just continue to carry him and try on work on his fear around this. I guess I was just worried that if ...

7 month puppy scared of stairs

Hi all, It's been a while since I posted for some advice. Dudley , my nearly 7 month old beagle puppy is scared of going downstairs so I'm after some advice on how to tackle this. So the situation is that I often homework, and try to do this as much as possible. Dudley went through a phase (and it s...

Re: Walking together with friend and her dog

I would probably not walk them together to be honest. It sounds stressful for them.

Reduced Eating

hi all, I guess this is a bit of dog training too but mostly food. Few basic facts: Dudley, Beagle, 4 months old Due to other issues ( non-food related) our trainer recommended that we stop feeding Dudley from a bowl and either feed by hand or feed from a kong wobble and start feeding him in his cra...

Re: Dogs first time aggression?

I'm sure there's another member here with much more experience that can offer advice but i would say that you need to get to the root of the aggression first before you can work out how to treat . Has he had a bad experience with or near your neighbour? Or could there be something about the home env...

Re: New puppy - bark in garden!

If my pup is anything to go by, yes he will try to eat the bark and the mushrooms. Everything in our garden is edible (to him) We've fenced up as many of the areas we want him to avoid as we can and we don't let him out in the garden unsupervised or off -lead unless we're playing fetch or another ga...

Re: Training methods

Urgh I did type out a massive reply and lost it! Thanks for your comments Shalista & Erica. The sessions are about 90mins with 4-8 dogs. We are expected by the trainer to ensure the dogs never go 'self employed' in that time and for a puppy, especially one with a short attention span, I do think...

Training methods

I'm hoping for a first post that I'm not breaking the philosophy rules on training methods but i wanted some advice. We've been taking our 4 month beagle to puppy classes since he was 10 weeks. Since Dudley is a Beagle he is challenging to train because he can often lose his focus during classes but...
