Re: Orange paws and itching after the park.

Wow, thank you, that's was a good find. The colour on Fox's paws was almost identical to that horse's. When I did a Google search I only found things about dog's saliva turning their fur orange. I'm in Norfolk, England, but I think you've found exactly what's causing the orange colour. Will do some ...

Re: Anxiety / attention seeking in new environment.

I'm not at all experienced, but I have a very anxious dog. For him, chewing helps calm him down. I give him rawhide, cow tendons, bones and other things that takes him a while to get though. Would something like that, that takes a lot of his attention, help him to settle?

Indoor toilet options (adult dog).

Hope this is the right section to post. Does anyone use an indoor toilet for their dog and what would you recommend? Bit of background as to why I want this. Fox is a Pomeranian cross. He's a rescue who has anxiety issues. He is house trained but has anxiety associated with going into the garden (he...

Orange paws and itching after the park.

Hi, I'm a bit stumped and could so with some help identifying the cause of this. Fox has a lot of allergies. He's had blood tests at the vets and we have it mostly under control through diet and both topical and oral medication. However he's recently been biting all his paws raw, all the way up to t...

Fox Poo!

Please can I have your tried and tested tips to get the smell of fox poo off my dog? :D I have a dog who hates to get his feet wet, is loathe to walk through the mud, needs coaxing on to wet grass to go to the toilet, won't walk through puddles, but throws himself into huge piles of sopping wet fox ...

Re: New dog growling at old cat when on furniture.

Just a quick update as everything is still very much a work in progress. Little by little he is calming down, especially around the cat. We allow him on the furniture with us, but only when Holly isn't around. If she's downstairs then he has to go on the floor and this seems to be working. At night,...

Re: New dog growling at old cat when on furniture.

It is possible to do some training with the cat. Although they tend to be independent creatures, yes, and you must convince them why this game is worth their while, cats can be trained, and do respond well to positive conditioning. I once had a cat who I had trained to play fetch! Thanks, but it's ...

Re: New dog growling at old cat when on furniture.

Thank you for your advice. I was thinking this might have to be the solution. I would love for them to be comfortable with each other, but in the mean time it's better to make life comfortable for all of us. Fox was already crate trained when he came to us and I do try to leave him for some time eac...

Re: New dog growling at old cat when on furniture.

On a parallel and positive note, he's been off the lead while out walking on the beach. His recoil is excellent, he's good with other dogs (when off the lead), plays with them for a few minutes then comes when I call him. His training is perfect. He learned paw in three tries. He was perfect in the ...

Re: New dog growling at old cat when on furniture.

Well it looks like we're going backwards. :? Fox won't sleep properly; he lies on the bed 'on guard' for when the cat comes in. I can feel how tense his body is. And when she does come in he goes crazy at her, barking and snarling. If I get the cat and put her on the bed, Fox is fine. If Holly sleep...

Re: New dog growling at old cat when on furniture.

I wanted to say thank you for all your advice. I've been treating him when he sees the cat and it seems to be working. We have a long way to go, but it's great to see progress. :)

New dog growling at old cat when on furniture.

Hi, this is my first post, I got my very first dog three weeks ago and there's one behaviour I'm having trouble rectifying. My new dog, Fox, growls and snarls and my old cat, Holly, but only when he's on the couch or bed *and* with us and she is interacting with us. Fox is nine months old. He's got ...
