Crate Rest Boredom
I recently adopted a heart worm positive dog who will be on strict crate rest for several months. How do I keep her mentally stimulated during this time?

Re: Adopted an Overweight Dog
Thanks. We got his bloodwork results this morning and it’s normal. Our Enzo is a healthy boy.

Re: Adopted an Overweight Dog
Our vet said Enzo’s body condition is 6 of 9 and estimates he’s about 2 pounds overweight. Pending bloodwork results (expected tomorrow) Enzo is otherwise healthy.

Re: Doesn’t Play With Toys
Thank you, Nettle. You’re right about doing nothing being hard, I hadn’t thought about it that way. I want to help him but maybe I should just let him settle in. He’s so sedentary, possibly due to his being very overweight, that I wanted to get him active. I should probably let him get more comforta...

Doesn’t Play With Toys
I recently adopted an adult min pin/chi mix who is used to playing with other dogs and their toys in his foster home. He’s the only dog in my home and is uninterested in toys now. We’ve tried using a little peanut butter and some treats in a puzzle toy but he’s obese and needs to lose the extra weig...

Re: Adopted an Overweight Dog
Thanks for the info! Outdoor walks aren’t a good option right now due to weather and some questions about his lower back for which we have a vet appointment set up. I appreciate the feeding tips.

Adopted an Overweight Dog
I just adopted a chi/min pin mix who is 3, maybe 4 pounds overweight. Any thoughts on in home exercises I can have him do? Also, how do I determine how much to feed him? Thanks

Re: I’m back re: ESAs
I struggle with bipolar disorder also and I know first hand the amazing, unconditional love a dog can share with humans. That said, I agree with Nettle. My heart dog, Herman, who’s since passed away, offered support but it was always on his terms. I never pushed him past his comfort zone. As much as...

Reintroduction
Hi, ya’ll, I’m returning after several years and I’m glad to be a part of this community again. I had been in dog rescue since I was a kid but my direct involvement was interrupted by health issues. I plan to return to rescue soon. Anyhoo, hello again!

Dog Injured In Household Fight
A friend has three miniature poodles. Two are older, neutered males from the same litter she raised from puppies. The third is an adult, spayed female who was adopted about a year ago. One of the males, increasingly aggressive toward his sibling for a couple years, was recently injured by the female...

Re: Talking With Misinformed People
I'm a convert from dominance based training and I wish I knew then what I know now. I've learned that sharing what I know now gets better results than confrontation. Most people I encounter who do things with a dominance approach don't mean to be cruel. I sure didn't. That said, I take a deep breath...
