Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

We went to rally a couple times, the activity was brilliant - our trainer not so much. Unfortunately, it's meant we've had to abandon rally completely because it's still very new over here so not only is she the only trainer in our area, she's also the biggest big-wig for our area too. It does go to...

Re: Vent!

My thoughts too Judy, muzzles for the braccy bulldogs have popped up everywhere but clearly she's not big enough to be dangerous. I have considered it but the harder it is to find one, the less she wants one at all so I can't see her changing her mind. We can mange her pretty well - Laufey is well o...

Re: Vent!

Sorry, I meant to reply Judy but read it and forgot! I'm not sure a groomer would have something they could pant in (or something she could see out of). Nettle, that's true but our issue is more there's nowhere for it to sit because her nose is very inverted into her face so from the side her...

Re: Vent!

Definitely needs to be able to open her mouth, it's very unusual it isn't open when she's out and about actually! That one is better than the one of similar design I saw - my version wasn't mesh so the poor dog couldn't see!! I think something in a traditional format would be possible if I could fin...

Re: Vent!

Why is muzzle shopping so hard!? I know she's not exactly the easiest face to fit but I mean come on, I'm a paying customer here at least pretend to read my email before going "just measure what we ask in the measuring guide". My issue with your measuring guide is it wants a snout length, ...

Re: Dogs first time aggression?

That's definitely a good thing! :D I can only speak from personal experience but with any future dogs, I won't be allowing off lead play with no recall. With my current dog, I will admit I let him be a bit of a hooligan and I think that letting him play with other dogs and then have to battle to get...

Re: Dogs first time aggression?

He he won't recall from a dog, then he absolutely does not get to be off lead around other dogs and you need to be very vigilant to put him back on lead before he spots one if one is to appear. Many reasons for this but possibly most importantly because you have no idea how the dog he takes off afte...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Thanks Nettle - it was absolutely awful but now I'm left with the huge mystery of what happened to it because it's in good condition with the petrol still in it and all of the stuff. Bless him Judy. I suppose you can always be thankful he has some self preservation? Laufey wants to run around like a...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

 sometimes there's just no educating people and it's only going to end badly for the child and dog :( Jasper sounds like he's not doing so well in the heat Judy, I hope it eases off soon. Ours are doing surprisingly well. It's my first experience of the magical effects of the double coat - wh...

Re: White Hair on a Previously Black Dog

To put photos on they have to be hosted on an external site (eg photobucket / flickr etc.) and then include it in IMG brackets. :) My all black dog occasionally gets a few white hairs, personally I wouldn't worry unless a very large patch occurred and didn't disappear. That said, I wouldn't necessar...

Re: Four days in the life of a reactive dog

Definitely, unfortunately I can't talk to her when if I don't have the dogs - I've tried it once or twice and she just winds me up and doesn't "get" what I'm trying to tell her. As much as I feel for her dogs, it's one I'm not going to be able to help.

Re: Four days in the life of a reactive dog

It really is surprising. It's like I never really knew dogs until I got Laufey and he taught me loads about dog behaviour and how to read dogs but MiMi's teaching me to actually understand a dog's scary things. Laufey isn't a scared-y dog so it really was a learning curve and if you don't get it, yo...

Re: Puppy on a Hunger Strike

Where are you feeding her? My terrified-of-a-lot girl wouldn't eat for days on end - once for two weeks straight - but has been miles better since feeding her in a crate. Currently it's the only use of her crate but she feels much safer in it and will eat. Another possible suggestion but if it's jus...

Four Days with a reactive dog

With a few days distance, I want to write a real post on some of the very real issues we’ve faced in the last few days with a reactive dog. The three following events happened in the course of four days. We always have a top on each stating that our dog needs space, MiMi has a lead cover on also st...
