Re: Why are show lines hated so much

Obviously not all show dogs are bad, you can find amazing healthy dogs, with great temperaments from amazing breeders. GSD are just contraversial, as they're not a healthy breed to begin with To illustrate Nettles point of the difference between the GSD's conformation, and the more natural looking h...

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies

I can imagine it takes a lot to train a whole kennel of sled dogs! Quorra obviously comes from pet lines, and I don't think any of her recent family did any pulling, so she doesn't have that drive, but she can still be a little pain in the butt! I can't speak for dogs with more of a work insti...

I forgot you lived so close Judy! I'd love to meet you and Jasper sometime. Maybe once I'm settled in and less likely to get lost I'll drop you a message :)

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Today on my course we went to Arne, an RSPB Reserve. I couldn't help but think about how great it would be to walk Quorra there! Little girly would love it! I've been at university two weeks and I'm really starting to miss my baby :( We also went to Brownsea Island, a nature reserve filled with red ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

I've been at university a few days now; my girlfriend is doing well with Quorra on her own. I miss my baby, but Quorra is my girlfriends dog, and she's learnt a lot from me, from the positively website, and youtube, and is doing a great job looking after her! Today I met a girl on my course who prev...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Poor Delta! We've never had to deal with snakes... It's stressful enough thinking about cars, cats, and off-lead dogs Yesterday, Quorra had a great morning walk. We went to the Glen in our town, and played fetch with Quorra for a bit. Midway through, a little Westie puppy came in. The owner let her ...

Re: ticklish

Quorra has 'tickle' spots that seem to change, sometimes it's directly on her middle of her back, sometimes it's the belly, her favourite spot is where her neck meets her chest at the front; she stretches her neck out, her head pointing upwards, and kicks her leg. It's very sweet. I read that appare...

I saw that video the other day, really unimpressed with it :/
It's not funny and it's not fair to the dogs

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

She did take scrapings and said we'll get a phone call with the results. We'll most probably try and get her some lavender oil, no matter the diagnoses, because she certainly is an itchy girl. The strange thing with the lab was, he wasnt young, the owner said he was around 9, and he was definitely g...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

That's interesting Judy, maybe it was the frequency? Sort of the way that some dogs howl at police cars or ambulance sirens. Seems to make sense if he's not usually interested in dogs on the telly. Today, we had to make a trip to the vets with Quorra again. She's been scratching her ears a lot, and ...

Re: Seeing strangers

I find with Quorra, even one sniff can make her more excited when she see's other dogs. Obviously Laufey might be different, but it might be good to even stop controlled introductions, and see if it makes a difference. The greeting for Quorra I guess is a form of self reward, and being able to greet...

Re: Seeing strangers

Delladoooo, how old is Laufey now? The not wanting to return could be part of adolescence. When young dogs start to become more independent they start to want to roam. This happened for us with Quorra, at 7 months old, and we had to completely re-train her recall. Also, I think the whine/bark/howl m...
