Separation Anxiety

I'm sure that this has been covered in depth in various posts, but I'm hoping that someone can give me some feedback on advice my friend was given regarding her dog. A bit of back ground... Austin is a 7 year old English springer spaniel. He is walked for a minimum of an hour a day, lots of off lead...

Re: Raw Food Diet

Daisy seems to have worked out for herself what gets eaten where! If she has something a bit icky, like hearts or offal or minced chicken carcass, she stays at her bowl and eats it there, but if she has a meaty bone, or chicken wings or duck/turkey necks, she takes them off to her bed. Only problem ...

Raw Feeding Question

Hi All Daisy has been fed raw since October and it's going really well - glossy coat, bags of energy, non smelly whoopsies, and she really enjoys her meals I've been buying meat from the local supermarket - chicken quarters, heart, liver/kidney, oxtail, sardines, an occasional raw egg and she has be...

Re: Crate training older dog

Could you do something like making a 'den'? When my kids have made a den, at it's most basic it's a few dining room chairs, back to back with a space between them, and a bed sheet draped over the top, kind of like a tent. Maybe if you start of with a big enough space, and a small enough 'roof', you ...

Crazy Daisy!!

We've had Daisy for around 7 months now, adopted her from the RSPCA. Up until around 3 or 4 weeks ago, we thought we had a calm, fairly laid back dog, definitely had her moments, but overall, not any trouble........ Turns out we were WRONG  She's definitely feeling so much more settled - and I ...

Finding a dog training class

Morning All, Can anybody recommend a training class in South Wales, UK? Daisy was signed up to attend classes (basic training/socialisation, leading to agility) with a well known local training group, but this morning, on our walk, I got talking to a lady. She mentioned that she also trains her lab ...

Re: Raw Food Diet

We've been feeding raw for a week now, and I think I'm enjoying it as much as Daisy is! She typically has a mixture of minced meat/bone/cartilige, meaty bones, oily fish and offal. I tried to offer veg, but she wasn't impressed - she is definitely 100% carnivore (unless it's veg i've roasted for us ...

Re: Raw Food Diet

Quick update...... Daisy had a meaty lamb bone yesterday afternoon - it's something I quite often give her as a meal replacement and treat all-in-one, and she did her usual good job of devouring it in no time. This morning she had 2 chicken wings (under close supervision), and made light work of the...

Re: Raw Food Diet

So glad I read this thread!! (Yep, all 30 pages!!) I've been thinking about feeding Raw for a while, but I was put off because none of my friends with dogs feed raw, and I suppose it was partly because I didn't want to be 'that crazy dog lady' , and also no-one to turn to for advice - not a pr...

Re: Regressing??

Thanks all Nettle, I've swapped to feeding at around 8.30 am and pm, with walks before hand, and so far so good - so thanks for the tips! Wufwuf - funnily enough, I spent yesterday reading the raw feeding thread, its definitely something I'm keen to get started on, even more so now I've seen ...

Re: Regressing??

Hi Nettle, thanks I've always fed before walkies, thinking 'she's just eaten, she'll need to go whoopsie!' - is that not ok? Do you think I'd be better off walking her at our usual time, but giving her her breakfast in a stuffing toy to have after? I suppose I'm stuck in the mindset of eat first, po...

Re: Regressing??

Hi Swanny, thanks for your reply - I probably should have put in my original post, that she's walked 30 mins after feeding (we've got a fairly strict routine, especially in the mornings when time is short!), and I've also extended the length of the walk, thinking that if we stay out for a bit longer...

Regressing??

Hi All, could really do with some advice..... We've had Daisy for 4 months, and it's all gone soooooo well so far except for... We've had a problem the last 5 or 6 days with her messing in the house. It's usually after her walk, and as soon as she's alone in the kitchen - say if I've walked her, the...
