Re: dog show

With all due respect, as woodfern said, these are not tricks, rather behaviors dogs should (and parents of dogs) exhibit in certain situations. A dog parent's dog should obey, comply with commands such as leaving an object alone, even when the parent is at a distance or doing something else. This i...

dog show

I only saw the last 15 minutes so am not really able to say with a completely accurate opinion, tho' I was surprised at the nature of the show. My opinion of shows like this will influence my opinion of the program in any case. And that is that I don't like shows of this nature, contests of dogs havin...

nail trimming

Hi! I dremeled my one greyhounds nails for several years and I'd recommend it for any dog really. Big part of use of the dremel is introducing it. This is what I did: Turn it on for a minute or so nearby him,but not to use yet, just to get him used to the sound for a week or so each day. (it's a bit ...

Re: Just baffling

I am really just baffled. I spent an hour, a full hour, dropping the leash and turning my back. No matter what I did, she continued to bite me every time I turned back or lay down and eat the leash. I am beginning to believe that there is just something wrong with her, and this is simply never goin...

I only recently became aware of Victoria's program so I can't really say.
Maybe you could write or e-mail Animal Planet about it?

I really like watching the show too! Can't believe it's been on this long and I only recently have known about it. There's so much talk about another show here, very popular here in the US,on a different network. It's been so upsetting to me to see dogs frequently being mistreated, based on the method...

Howler

Wonderful that you've adopted dogs in need of a home! Would you consider walking her at about 5:15,before the howling starts,to possibly break the cycle? You may have to do it for about a month or so,but it may pay off nicely. (have to say I've never tried this tho') If it works, you may need to take...

diet

Just would like to add that now and then, maybe twice a week, the egg shell itself can be a source of calcium. It can be given just broken up I suppose, but most people put it in a little grinder so it becomes more of a powder and can be added to the meal. (if you do it,and use say,a coffee grinder,ple...

introducing 2 dogs

Very true, usually neutral territory on leash outside the home tends to be the best thing. That way they can safely introduce themselves to each other. I'd follow it up with a relaxed walk together,on leash, generally each person and dog side by side if you have the road space for that. Since it seems...

Is there a grain free kibble you can try? Reason I bring it up,is my dog had a loose, actually liquid elimination for a long, long time. Once I went to a grain free food,it was so helpful, and he'd stay formed for some time. He'd then get,as you say 'the squitters!',after about a year later. At that po...

Very good suggestions already. And the probiotics and the de-worming if it hasn't already been done can be very important. Also, some dogs don't tolerate grains,or are allergic to them, leading to an irritable bowel type syndrome. It might be helpful to look into a good grain free kibble? Hopefully he'...
