Re: Vent!

Sad news- 2 dogs were taken from a family, then shot in the face and dumped in a ditch after the family had been searching for over a month. The man was slapped with a misdemeaner on 2 counts of animal cruelty. Basically, a slap on the wrist. He looked troubling from the mugshot. I can only imagine ...

Re: Explaining Breeding Aspects

What do you mean by "hobby"? despite the continuation of the smug, self-righteous tone, i'm going to attempt to answer some of these questions. of course many of them were answered in the post you quoted which make my response a waste of time by hobby we mean hobby. I don't mean to be sna...

Re: Thoughts on Photo Op?

Did anyone notice that Theo the puppy looks like a Rottweiler? Adult Rotties without a gentle hand to guide them are a disaster waiting to happen. Rotties are big, very strong dogs. I would hate to see a future article where Beau was attacked by Theo because he did something wrong to cause the dog ...

Re: Explaining Breeding Aspects

I'll try and keep this short  specifically this is to address certain concerns from k9queen but will I'm sure be of interest to others. If nobody breeds them, there are no dogs. If good breeders are prevented from breeding with quality stock, all that is left are bad breeders breeding from inf...

Re: Dog Parks

Victoria Stilwell posted a video of what appropriate play looks like and what should be happening. Comparing that with this and I see so many eye opening, red flag behaviors demonstrated by these dogs. It's unfortunate that so many people believe that this kind of interaction is "normal" a...

Disturbing

New find in search for puppy face that never fades http://news.yahoo.com/search-puppy-face-never-fades-151539092.html This is exactly what I was talking about in another post. This is a deeply disturbing "trend". When so many animals are euthanized every day, people would rather spend tons...

Re: Now It's decided

I have a question on breeding. Is that all the adult dogs are for? I'd hate to think that dogs being bred to keep up a bloodline are used as non-stop baby making machines. Do breeders follow a dogs natural cycle? Because wild dogs survive on their own, domestic dogs usually end up dead, brought to ...

Re: Trying to understand my dog better

How much walking and mental exercise does she get a day? What sort of play/training do you do with her? Right now, walking is not happening because two quiet streets don't allow dogs anymore and the nightime walks have been increasingly challenging because of people and stray animals. I use a harne...

Re: Trying to understand my dog better

While waiting for your answer to JudyN - which will help us help you :) I have to explain that border collies do NOT protect flocks. Their job is to herd them. There are herding breeds and flock guards and they are totally different in character with totally different training challenges. :) Unders...

Re: Thoughts on Photo Op?

I agree with you. And, I believe that is why older dogs end up in shelters. The same can be said of kittens. I believe that our dog, a chihuahua ended up on the shelter the first time when he turned out not to fit the norm. He has the deer chihuahua head and long legs and larger body. Whoever got h...

Re: Thoughts on Photo Op?

I am a little surprised by how much blame gets put on animals instead of people. I say a little because at the same time, I am not suprised at all. People have a habit of blaming other people without taking responsibility, but to blame an animal? Ridiculous, I'd say. Most animals hate having their p...

Re: Thoughts on Photo Op?

Like you've all already said : I don't like the fact that the mum seems to have put the puppy there, rather than it being free choice, I don't like that the pup has been seemingly dragged off the street and immediately into the childs bed - worms etc would worry me too, and I don't like the age of ...
