Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Happy Solstice Sunday, everyone. I'm feeling a bit under the weather and the trails are in horrible condition, so Trish and I decided to start teaching the puppies how to run up a ramp to load themselves into the dog truck. I posted more details and pics on the Positive Puppies thread, at https://po...

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
Learning to Run the Ramp Happy Solstice, everyone. I'm afraid I'm not feeling 100% today, and the trails are in very poor shape, so I decided to stay close to the house and work with the babies. Trish and I started training them to "run the ramp" in order to load themselves into the compa...

Human sweather? Now why didn't I think of that? I'll bet Chetan could wear one of Trish's old sweaters, though it might be suicidal for me to bring it up. Maybe a trip to the thrift store (second hand store) is in order.

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
Glacier's eyes appear more green than blue to me, too. I am starting to wonder just what color he's going to decide on. These three are going to have a new playmate within a few days. I have a buddy with a large kennel of working Siberian huskies, going through a messy divorce and generally h...

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
I let the puppies out into a larger play yard today, with a new twist. I gave them a section of culvert as a sort of tunnel to explore, and enticed them further with some really tasty salmon treats. Here are some photos of the rapidly growing babies at 11, almost 12 weeks of age. Glacier, checking o...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Didja miss me? I just got home from work last night. It was an interesting tour of duty at work. Long (12 hour) work days with very little daylight (more like twilight) seems to have taken a toll and made it difficult for me to stay awake long enough to keep up with all the news and posts on m...

Re: Tired and losing weight
Delta has been home how long? It seems like a around 6 weeks to a couple of months but I'm not always good at tracking time. Increased exercise and activity without a corresponding increase in rations would certainly account for her weight loss over that period of time. Playing with a puppy is HARD ...

Here is a nice photo of Griffin (Jumble) and Terra (Nilas) with their father, Phoenix. Posted by Linda Newman of Points Unknown.

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
Frazil, now known as Tonrar (an Inuit term meaning "ghost" or "spirit") is settling into his new home. His flight was an hour late, so he was VERY hungry when he arrived. He made short work of his supper and set about meeting and greeting the new humans, dogs and kitties in his l...

I'm at work, and the content blocker on our "morale" internet system won't let me view YouTube. I'm looking forward to checking it out when I return home.

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
Frazil's trip to town on Tuesday was very fun. On the way in he rode on the seat beside Trish and I, snuggled up and fell asleep in short order. Dr. Monetti, the stand in vet, really liked him. He was deemed a very healthy and handsome young lad and the microchip was implanted without so much as a w...

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
Puppy Update: Frazil is going to be a real challenge in his furever home in Minnesota. He'll be joining two other sled dogs on a friend's skijoring and dryland mushing team, so we are trying to help him adapt to indoor life, introduce him to cats, carpets, and all those other things. He does fine wh...

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
During our trip we kept our house dog (Shadow) in a commercial boarding kennel, and our friend Nita took Chetan and the babies to her kennel WAY up near the top of a mountain called Murphy Dome. I was concerned about Shadow, as she is very reactive and could be a biter without careful management. Th...

Re: New Litter of Positive Alaskan Sled Dog Puppies
Trish and I are just back from our trip to Minnesota to deliver Griffin and Terra to the Points Unknown kennel. It was a wonderful visit, a bit of a whirlwind, and we are both nearly exhausted. Not nearly so much as Linda, who's pregnant female Rayna decided to go into labor about the same time Tris...
