Re: Belgian Shepard/ Sheepdog
Dawnstorm..........Gordie is the only Belgian in our entire county, at least that is licensenced and the only one at our vets office. I looked into resuces before we finally found a breeder, but at the time they didn't have any available. I love my Belgian he is sooooooo smart. I only have two adva...

Re: Martingale collar
A martingale collar is especially good for breeds like Dobermans, who have long, tapering necks.emcn916 wrote:We use martingale collars on the dogs at the shelter where I volunteer. They are not used to stop pulling, it is used so a dog cannot slip his collar..

a Code Brown ) I think that at one point we all 'stupid' when it comes to something, but in my opinion, intelligent people know when they don't know something and ask someone who does. I always tell new pet owners to ask questions--we dog/cat/whatever critter geeks love to talk about them! We...

Re: Why CM is Yesterday's Dog Trainer
Dish Network is showing the NatGeo channel all month as some promo thing, so I had a chance to watch the Dog Whisperer. Even allowing for the fact that I was biased, I honestly cannot understand what is so great about this guy. :?: :?: He didn't really explain why he was doing what he was doing, and...

This past week I....
....gave my two dogs a bath. Outside. It was certainly hot enough! I also learned that you do not blast the gunk off your deck while you're waiting for the shampoo to do its thing--unless you want to rewash the dog. Anyway, Flanders is fluffy for now, and both dogs are clean! Once the dogs we...

Re: Dobermans?
Dobermans are indeed highly energetic dogs. As far as their health, here are the concerns: • Major concerns: CVI (wobbler's syndrome) • I lost my second Dobe to that #$*^T%&$#*@@@!!! wobblers! It was upsetting to see him go from poetry in motion when he ran to looking like a drunken bum w...

Re: Belgian Shepard/ Sheepdog
Gordiesmom-- Belgians aren't common as pets over here, but this county has been using the Malinois as police dogs for quite some time. I've seen a few being walked in my neighborhood, so my Flanders isn't the only Malinoose  in town. I have a sticker on my car window that says My Belgian Malin...

Use this or a shedding blade outside, especially in the spring when the local wildlife are building nests.

I thought it was lousy--I got way better results with the special attachment on my vacuum.
