Re: How do you handle unacceptable behaviour?

I am trying to socialize him on a daily basis but I am PETRIFIED of him injuring another dog. He's good 95% of the time, but it's the 5% unpredictability.

Re: How do you handle unacceptable behaviour?

I don't feel criticized at all, thank you for your reply. He's really strong so I do struggle to pull him away from a sticky situation when it has escalated but I think the use of thigh to push him away is a good tactic. He's really hit and miss with other dogs. Yesterday a small, shitzu type dog go...

Oops I meant to include that information. He's a 3yo neutered male boxer.

How do you handle unacceptable behaviour?

My foster dog (FD) has been with me for eight days now and has settled in really well. We've got a really good routine set up and he's getting two walks daily with 2-3hrs adventures at weekends so getting plenty of food. He has two meals a day, fresh water and companionship for most of the day. He i...

Leaving dogs unattended at home

I've just taken on my first foster dog (a 3yo brindle boxer) and i am hugely in love already!! I've had a long weekend with him which has been lovely but alas, I must return back to work tomorrow :( He will be walked for 30mins at 6.15am-6.45am and I will leave the house at 7.25am. My friend has agr...

Re: What to expect from fostering?

Thank you, very helpful.

I don't actually own a dog of my own as I know leaving a dog for that length of time isn't desirable which is why I want to foster. I am desperate to have my own but I know I have to be sensible about it.

What to expect from fostering?

I've just applied to be a fosterer for the Northern Boxer rescue. Due to my long working hours four days a week (out of the house for about 11 hours) I've specifically offered to be an emergency or very short term fosterer. Is there such a need? I emailed one of the team via Facebook and she seemed ...

Re: Does anyone rent and have a dog?

I'd be prepared to do all of the above...I'll keep searching. When I get a house to rent with a garden then I can rescue a pooch!

Erm I think the original pic was too big so I just set the dimensions to the max the forum allows and it just self adjusts the pic...I think? Try it and tell me how you get on lol!

Does anyone rent and have a dog?

Seem's like property which allows a dog is virtually impossible. I can never see me being able to afford to own and therefore my dream of owning a dog is never going to happen :( I'm a really sensible adult and I wouldn't let a dog destroy a property. Is there hope for me out there? Is anyone fortun...

Re: Euthanasia at home (general query, not Jasper related!)

My personal preference would be to have the dogs PTS at home because they really get anxious at the vets :(

Re: Lipoma or lumps in 12yo springer spaniel

Thank you for all your lovely compliments. I adore this old guy and miss him madly since I moved out of mum's house. He was recently clipped and it took ten years off his age but I prefer him hairier! Well the information I got from my mum was that the vet doesn't want to do anything with the lumps ...

Re: OUT OF CONTROL SPRINGER

Take it from me, it'll take 11-12 years for your spaniel to calm down. My mums springer was out of control and a real handful due to lack of training, stimulation and exercise. Now he's 12 and has finally calmed down we can see the error of our ways. The amount of tears that dog has created because ...
