Re: Joint problems? Advice needed please!
Thanks guys. We will be moving soon (fingers crossed) so will be looking for a decent vet in my new area. I contacted another Mctimoney chiro earlier who does house visits, so hopefully she will give me a call back and we can organise a visit ASAP. His lameness seems to have worn off after a rest, s...

Re: Joint problems? Advice needed please!
Hi Nettle, thank you for your reply! I went to a Mctimmoney chiro a while ago with both dogs, just for a check really, but it was a 2 hour drive and I didn't really get any answers from her with regard to his lameness issues. Although she did say his spine was slightly out of alignment As an update,...

Joint problems? Advice needed please!
Hey guys, I haven't posted on the forum for ages..so apologies. I have an issue I am not quite sure where to go with and honestly couldn't think of a better place to get some sound advice. I have a rescue dog, we've had him 2 years now, so he is possibility around 4 or 5 years old. He looks like a c...

Re: referendum
Guys in the US, imagine waking up to find Trump is your new president? I suspect many of you would be devastated, angry, divided? This is how many of us are feeling in the UK today. I actually don't think this is a suitable topic of discussion for this forum...it's too raw. Judy - couldn't agree mor...

Re: Is my dog aggressive, reactive, or just dog selective?
Hi there..she sounds exactly like my rescue dog! He is not interested in greeting other dogs, and when another approaches, regardless of how politely / friendly it greets, he will stiffen up and then snark but has never bitten but gotten a few noisy rows if the other dog has reacted back. I would su...

Re: Vent!
Really hacked off with our vets.. I took Hattie in this morning, as she has had an ear infection that wasn't clearing up despite me bathing it with the few drops of lavender in water every day...Anyway, the vet says to me, Oh shall i get a muzzle, as I see she wears one when they trim her nails? I o...

Re: How hard can a toothless dog bite?
strange you've posted this, as I've literally just been reading a book by US vet /behaviourist Gary Landsberg who mentioned that some vets (he was not recommending this) advise clients in aggression cases to have the dogs teeth removed (I know!). However, he was saying that even then a dog can still...

Re: Collie x Springer aggressively guarding her bed!
Hi, we have a rescue dog, who has also been very guardy with his bed and space generally when resting. Couldn't agree more with Nettle, find a solution so you don't have to keep moving his bed, you need to try and manage situations as much as possible to avoid conflict, as conflict only increases a ...

Re: after vomiting - what to feed?
I had been thinking of carcasses as in what's left after the breasts, legs, wings, neck etc. have been removed rather than the whole bird. I'm wondering if there would be any advantage to having some bones and cartilage in there for the broth rather than using fillets So took the meat off the cooke...

Re: after vomiting - what to feed?
thanks guys! Make sure to pull out the gizzards if they package those inside the chest cavity like they do here - while the meaty bits can and should go in the pot with the rest of the chicken, they may be in a plastic bag or have some absorbant pad around them. I was munching a mushroom toasted san...

Re: after vomiting - what to feed?
Thanks Judy! I've actually just got back from the vet ..he looked so lack lustre I got a bit worried about him...so took him and his overnight sick down to the vet. The vet reckons the stuff he ate yesterday was some kind of rubber matter which he has been unable to digest. He has given me ant -acid...

Re: Nosework (laying trails)
Hi, we've recently been doing some working trials tracking....things I've learned are...you need clean ground. Go somewhere that dosen't get a lot of foot / dog traffic. Have a 2 markers, one to start, one to finish (so you have an idea where you're heading when you're with the dog).Have someone hol...
