Training for recently adopted Yorkie

Morning all, I was wanting some advice. Last week I took on a 6 year old female Yorkie, her owners had her in a flat and she was left for endless hours on her own, so we've taken her on. Overall she is very good, she has settled quickly, her old owners complained about her wetting constantly and the...

Have you had her to the vet for a urinalysis? One of mine is extremely prone to urinary tract infections, and when I first got her, I assumed she was being naughty when in reality, she truly couldn't help it. Antibiotics stopped the problem in 48 hours. Over time I learned...accident on the rug equ...

Do you HAVE to have a rug? You could just take it up. Maybe just take it out for company. I would quite like one yes - our whole house is wood floored, so I'd like to keep it !! More importantly than having the rug was trying to figure out why the dog is actually doing it.... since she is so clean ...

Hi Nettle, I did think it might be an insecurity thing but she did it long before Mia came along, we had Penny from 6 weeks old and Mia was brought in to the family just over a year ago, she was a rescue dog. Its definately Penny, 100% guaranteed. At the moment I have resorted to removing the rug wh...

My Furry Sleeping partners need evicting !!!

Hi All, I was hoping for some help. I have two gorgeous terriers, Penny and Mia, apples of my eyes. And in true daft dog owner style, I have let them sleep on our bed since bringing them home, but..... I am now expecting twins and space in bed is at a premium and the girls are disturbing mine and hu...

Thanks Nettle - this is all great advice... I took her to same place this morning and praised her lots every time she came back, varied the route, etc etc and she was excellent, certainly wanted to go off burrowing but I managed to hold her attention. I hadnt thought of gun dog training for her but ...

I dont know if this will help but here goes... I have a 2 year old terrier, Penny, gorgeous, well behaved etc, we had her from a pup. About 6 months ago, I took a 5 month old Yorkshire Terrier, Mia, she came from a family who had been abusing her, perhaps more mentally than physically. When she came...

Me and My Dogs. Firstly let me clarify. When I say Mia is a rescue dog, she is, but came direct from a family who could not keep her and had been neglecting her. I specify her as a rescue because she came to me with issues which we are working hard to rectify, so much the same as alot of rescue anim...

Aggressive Collie

Hi, my mum has a collie cross, Honey, she is going to be 2 in October. She has always been a very placid animal, very good natured and well behaved. Until a few weeks ago. She has started to become aggressive to people coming into the house, to the point where she almost attacked a family friend yes...

Thank you all, particularly Emmabeth/Mattie/Owdb1tch. I knew I could trust youall to give me some sensible answers. Mia (6 month old) is a little childish so I will wait until she has had a season, I think I will still get them done together purely so that one isnt harrassing the other - they spend ...
