Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Ari the 7.5 y.o. RR lost a bit of weight lately, and regained some of his good looks... muscles are visible again, which coupled with his size, low energy during the summer, and aloof demeanor (just slowly walking by people without even looking at them) turns heads again. “Wow, did you see that dog?...

Re: Let's talk sighthounds

“They are quiet, sweet, affectionate with their owners and enjoy being petted by others but they're not demonstrative. They won't jump over anyone or fawn over strangers, simply stand calmly beside them inviting pats. They're very clean and quiet in the house and although they love to zoom outside ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Ari is not necessarily lazy, but definitely adverse to even minor inconveniences... like wet, or cold, or snow, or pretty much anything, so in order to get a good walk we have to drive somewhere (to the nature park, or to downtown), then he is full or energy, moves fast. But walks around the neighbo...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Ari The RR of weighed in at 115 lbs at the vet a couple of weeks ago, definitely gained weight during winter... the vet was not thrilled (to put it mildly), so the boy is on a diet again. At least supposed to be on a diet. My mother, the great self-discovered animal advocate, believes that dogs suff...

love game of thrones! true to the books for the first season or so, then strays radically. can be a bit slow, lots of violence and sex
After the first season there was a surge in people acquiring Husky puppies... resembling GOT wolves... followed shortly by a surge of abandoned Huskies

Vet said possibly vasculitus, but can stress (perhaps elevated heart rate?) have an impact?

Bleeding ears when stressed

Need help on behalf of a friend, with a young male ridgeback. When he is under stress - BOTH his ears begin to bleed. Not just one - both, simmetrically. At the tips, as in the pictures, and also at the base. For example - at the vet, or at the groomer, both of whom he finds stressful. Another examp...

If you want it done right - do it yourself.

Humans weren’t as thorough with towels as they should have been, after insisting on walking in the rain this morning.

No problem, The Independent Thinker can find his own way.

Bax also definitly falls into the "what did i dooooooooo?" category when i step on him.
Seems that small dogs get stepped on a lot....

I always thought it must be difficult to be a small dog among all these huge humans. Being stepped on doesn’t make it any easier :?

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Saw this in the news this morning.

"In Illinois , pets will be treated more like kids than property in divorce cases. Pets could be subject to partial or joint custody after their owners divorce. The law only applies to "companion animals" -- not service animals."

Is this progress? I think so.....
