Re: My Toy Pomeranian has a Luxating Patella
Whether you go ahead with the op or not hydrotherapy would be a good way forward for you. Pre-op it helps to build good quality muscle to help speed recovery and post -op it will help repair and strengthen the leg to allow better weight bearing and often quicker weightbearing. It also help to keep t...

Re: Gossip and Oya
Well, I promised to update when I had chance, so here goes. We are about to start a very exciting time so some of you might like to join us in the journey! Update so far - both ponies have been working hard with their clicker training when my health and the weather allows it. Gossi prefers things to...

Re: Dogs Might Fly - Sky1 UK
How many episodes are there? Just found out I can get it on Nowtv but currently don't have a subscription so would like to hold off until the series finishes then I might be able to just watch the series within the 14 day trial! Won't watch anything else with it but would pay to see this series if I...

Re: Newfoundland advice
Horus' hydrotherapist has 3 newfies and they are very quiet. They aren't trained very well, but she would freely admit that is her fault rather than theirs - she does train them in water rescue, they just don't do normal obedience type stuff. They don't go offlead unless there are no other dogs (the...

Re: Dogs Might Fly - Sky1 UK
I saw an advert for it but really would like to see it. I just hope it gets shown again somewhere more accessible.

Re: Noise
Bone is a funny thing, has he got worse again since you cut down the bone content? I know the recommended amounts of bone - and Horus eats 2-3 times that amount regularly. He needs it, it keeps his stomach busy so he doesn't get excess acid which causes him discomfort and in turn dramatically increa...

Re: More then one dog?
I have pondered getting a friend for Horus so many times - he loves playing and spending time with his friends, especially the dog next door who he has helped raise since puppyhood. But I always decide against it - Horus has had enough struggles, and whilst the right dog might well enrich his life, ...

Re: Confidence Boost
I'd be inclined to have less "official" training sessions and just treat every minute that you spend with him as training time. Keep a pot of treats in every room if that's what floats his boat, and ideally some in your pocket if that doesn't cause more problems. Ask for behaviours through...

Re: Noise
How long does it take to walk the 2 miles? I would try to incorporate training on your walks, introduce your obedience training and trick training to "dance" along the walk for a minute or so, then give him chance to go and sniff and do his thing, then do a bit more dancing, and so on. It ...

Re: Noise
I've been trying to catch up on your posts about Bax, but one thing that strikes me is that 2 miles really isn't very far for a terrier to walk. It's even less if walking is all you do - you can make it more tiring by doing lots of training and nosework as you go. I do wonder if increasing his activ...

Re: Encountered a loose, large dog while walking my puppy
Added to Nettle's good advice is the suggestion to keep a handful of food with you when walking - if a dog is approaching you can "treat bomb" it by throwing it at it's face, with the aim to hit it in the face so they are distracted by the food and stop to snuffle it up. It can give you a ...

Re: Hello strangers!!
Oh, so wonderful to hear from you! Congratulations on getting on television, and helping Horace with his pain, and especially with overcoming his leg infection through herbal remedies. That's huge. I wish there was a hydrotherapy center for dogs near me, for Annie. All we have is a river that we ha...

Re: Hello strangers!!
Hi! Glad Sky and Sirius are doing well. I don't know if there are plans to broadcast in the US unless you can get BBC somehow? I need to find a way to record it and save it - I hate these newfangled TV recorder things that don't actually let you put it on a disc, I don't have my own tv but fiance ha...

Re: Hello strangers!!
Cheers guys - it was actually you Nettle that inspired me to come back, I was wondering if you were still around because I was thinking back to how much you and Em helped me survive the first few months when things where at their worst. Glad you're still here, thought you'd like the honey and neem t...
