Re: Italian Spinones

I've just registered and came across your post. I just wanted to say that while I don't own a Spinone, I own 2 Bracchi italiani girls - the short haired version of Spinone some people say but I beg to differ. Welcome to the forum! Coincidentally, I was down the beach today and saw three beautiful d...

Re: Rescue Greyhounds/Ex racing dogs

You may well be aware of this, but the collar does need to be a wide sighthound collar, to protect the neck and to stop it slipping over the narrow head. A lot of rescued greyhounds can't be let off lead, but many are more than happy with a couple of lead walks a day and to snooze the rest of the da...

Re: Guess the mix!

Are dobermans considered a dangerous breed in the States, then? Because given that all dogs are related, even a Westie would share some genes with a doberman. A full sibling of this dog could look much more lab- or pointer-like but technically be the same mix. So whether labelled doberman x or point...

Re: Refraining from posting on fear-based issues...

The people who annoy me are the people who ask for advice and then aren't prepared to take it. I don't mind if they consider it and choose not to take it for whatever reasons (after all I didn't take Emmabeth's advice to delay Jasper's evening meal till 9pm as I didn't feel up to all the whinging w...

Re: Refraining from posting on fear-based issues...

Ithe same people respond......I see a lot of others look at the post, but not many respond, so there seems little point! I'd just like to pick up on this bit... I run one forum, and am a regular poster on this one and another doggy forum. I think I may also have a touch of RSI in my fingers.... :x ...

Re: Grapes

Oh no! Fingers crossed for her... Jasper once ate the best part of a bag of muesli which had an awful lot of raisins in. I rang the vet, but the one I spoke to (newly qualified, I expect) said he didn't think it was something to worry about as they hadn't covered it in vet school... Though he did su...

Boswellia

Has anyone tried boswellia for their dogs' aches and pains? I often see it recommended for arthritis. Not a problem for Jasper, but as it's anti-imflammatory I wondered if it would have helped for his swellings after running into the fence at the beach. I would be wary of using it if I thought there...

Re: dog attempts to bite

Imagine you're sitting in a room, nice and comfortable, and someone comes in and shouts 'OUT!!! Get your backside out of there now!!' As you look up in surprise, they march up, grab your shirt, and pull you out. How would you feel? How would you react? Now, I'm not saying this is what you are doing ...

Re: What has your dog taught you?

HM, I was pondering what I could contribute to this thread, but your post is so similar to my experience it's brought tears to my eyes... and that doesn't happen often! The main difference is that I'm not naturally depressive, but at times it has been hard to see the positives. Jasper is still a wor...
