At the shelter we use Sens-ible harnesses. The ring to hook the leash onto is on the front of the dog so when they pull they are turned a little to the side which 99% of the time stops the pulling. We also teach them loose leash walking by turning in another direction when they start to pull and say...

We use martingale collars on the dogs at the shelter where I volunteer. They are not used to stop pulling, it is used so a dog cannot slip his collar. For dogs who come in and pull, we use Sens-ible harnesses. They hook on the front of the dog so when they start to pull it will turn them to the side...

Have your dog checked by a vet for a urinary tract infection or a bladder/kidney infection. She may be in pain which could account for her change in demeaner. Once that has been ruled out you can start to work on self esteem.

We use hot dogs at the shelter where I am a volunteer trainer. We have also used chicken, turkey, and Bil Jac dog food. For dogs that don't like any of it, sometimes a favorite toy will work. If all else fails, praise, praise, praise...
