Re: A growing success with Charlie & Lola
Just to update: Charlie is now totally house-broken. He's as good as gold in most every way. Still got the SA though, and still quite badly. I just don't leave him a the moment. He's not at all anxious at any other time, in fact, any more laid back and he'd be comatose! Lola is the highly strung one...

Re: Poodle with Hip Dysplasia
Thank you lawp for your lovely and helpful reply. Part of my trepidation is that this lickle feller is also 'out at elbow' - looks like a blinkin' Bully cross from the front ! I'm worried about how much pressure will be put on his elbows if his hips are painful for the six weeks he'll be out of acti...

Re: How did you discover which breed was for you?
I have had one canine companion or another since my first pup when I was five, usually singly but sometimes two at a time. The vast majority of our dogs have been rescues and they have shrunk commensurately with our age! LOL! This is what we have had: Judy - small black long-haired mongrel, a bit li...

Re: Refraining from posting on fear-based issues...
I must just say thank you to everyone on here who persists with answering the 'daft questions' and forgives the impetuous thread-starting of newbies! I admit to being one of them and am grateful for everyone's patience, including RWTW, with whom I have great empathy. I am being stalked on FB by a we...

Re: Guess the mix!
What happened with this little lady in the end?
I thought perhaps Vizsla/Lab rather than Dobermann as the colouring is more cocoa than black....?
Only just saw the post.

Re: Poodle with Hip Dysplasia
Thank you so much for your kind responses - much appreciated. We've since had a further event - Charlie has tried to jump up on the couch and really hurt himself so we're going to discuss the op with the vet either later today or Monday. He's only just two and to have him in this kind of pain for th...

Poodle with Hip Dysplasia
My little Mini-Poo rescue, Charlie, has been diagnosed with HD. This means he's on anti-inflam medication for life and may need an operation later on to remove the hip joint. My cunundrum is this:- His insurance is enough to pay his meds for nine years, which will make him eleven before we have to f...

Re: GSD Not sitting right
Glad Thor is now peeing like the boy we always knew he was! LOL! I was just about to say beware of HD (hip dyslpasia) in GSD's. That can make them pee like a girl, sit oddly and also 'bunny-hop' whilst running instead of the canter or gallop.

A growing success with Charlie & Lola
Although not 100% perfect, due to some fab advice on this forum from Mattie and also from lovely Jo Pay, Charlie and Lola have both turned the corner toilet-ry speaking! And they are improving all the time. Charlie still doesn't like to go out in the rain to toilet - even if I take an umbrella and g...

Potty Poodle!
Bit of a long one I'm afraid but I think the details are necessary. We are nearly 60 but in reasonable fettle, and have always had large dogs with no problems at all. The last one was a show-type Springer of bomb-proof and polite disposition who would, if possible, have done what we wanted before we...
