Dog urine marking humans

Hi! My friend told me a few days ago that his dog used to urine mark humans sometimes, and was wondering, what did that mean and why her dog did that. I didn't know the answer so I thought I'd come here to ask you guys. My dog has done it once, when another dog was close and my mother was petting th...

Re: Raw Food Diet

Hey guys!

I found this on the internet - http://www.deliciousdogdiet.com
Has anyone bought it and do you think it's worth spending money on?
I think a book with explanations etc would be a good starting point for me in case I'm a complete beginner but want to switch my dog to raw food.

Re: Simple 'Treat on nose' trick. Any suggestions?

I just put the treat on my dog's nose and held his muzzle still, first for some seconds, later for longer time. He didn't really seem to want to eat it anyway. He kind of understood the game after a number of tries, so that's how we learned the game haha. Not helpful information for you, I know

Startling noises

This is what happened with us today: my dog hopped out of car, we were gonna enjoy a nice walk in a park, without leash. Then, 30 seconds later there is some kind of noise that reminds me of a plane going through the air somewhere far, not very loud but still a sound. My dog ran quickly back to the ...

Re: Your experience of working with dogs.

To Nettle - Maybe some courses on understanding your dog better - body language, signs, world from dog point of view, dog behaviour on whole and also maybe a course on puppy raising - how to do everything right from the start so there would be no big problems later in dogs life.

Re: Your experience of working with dogs.

Ahhhhh I love this thread, talk more!!! This is exactly what I want to do too, make the world know that positive way is the best way. Starting from my country, which needs it the most right now. I'm lucky to be able to help out in a local shelter now, I already have a dog-aggressive rottweiler mix w...

Re: Want to help, but don't know how

Yesterday I met with a group of young people helping the shelter in my town. I became a member and now have a cute rottweiler mix, to whom I'm allowed to teach basic commands! His name is Jänki (pronounced "yankee") and I heard that one of his biggest problems is that he attacks other dogs...

Re: Hot Spots and Apple Cider Vinegar?

I think you should trim it anyway to let the hotspot get as much air as possible. 2 cm from the edge, I suggest.

Re: Sushi rice/vinegar

Small amount of vinegar is not dangerous. In fact, if you add a little vinegar to your dog's drinking water, it helps to get rid of fleas and ticks (read that from a book, haven't tried myself).

Re: To be on the couch or not to be on the couch...

What to do when the dog gets on the couch while nobody's watching but immediately comes off when somebody enters, as the dog knows it's not allowed? Is closing the door/crating the only way? My friend has this problem with his new puppy. He has never been allowed to the couch by any family members a...

Wolves

http://youtu.be/CMCWbF4HG3U It's not a dog topic, but I really want to know what you guys think. What seems to me, is that the wolves in this video really like the photographer and they all want his attention. They growl pretty scarily at each other at some points, and I was thinking maybe the phot...

Re: It's Me or the Dog

Victoria hasn't come up with the clicker theory, although she talks about it in the book, also the techniques under the topic of how to become a top dog are exactly the same what jan fennell suggests in her books. I don't think this is a bad thing at all, people should always read what other people ...

Re: It's Me or the Dog

I just got the book, and I love it! However, I found this contrast, because in this forum, it's all about being super positive with your dog and throwing the dominance thing behind. But in the book, there is a topic of corrections, there are listed types of corrections which she uses etc. also there...

Being patient and calm has helped me too! It used to be me dragging my dog along and taking him everywhere I could take him, thinking it was good for him. It seems to me now, that he wanted a more peaceful life and didn't quite accept. So I did the opposite. I had some days where he went out only 2 ...

Re: Old dog doesn't want to walk

Tried the hallway thing again. I asked him to come closer, and clicked+gave treat. Then I took the keys, he sniffed them, and I clicked. Then I took a small plastic bag, which I always carry in my hand with the keys while walking, he sniffed and I clicked. Then I went a little closer to the door, an...
