Jack Russell/Beagle nipping at peoples legs

I have a 4 year old jack russell/beagle mix (Zoey). She has always been ornery.. since she was a puppy. She's been to training-she knows all the tricks, and for the most part she is a very well behaved dog. However, she is very overly protective of me. If we go to a dog park she tries to stay at my ...

Re: Dog still won't stop jumping up

Thanks for the replies! :) I had a few clarifying things: 1. should I say "off" or "down" when he jumps? or simply just turn away? 2. Luckily when we do turn away he doesn't jump on our backs, he actually sits down and waits for us which I've tried to train him to sit for a greet...

Dog still won't stop jumping up

I've had my dog, Humphrey for about a year. He's a black lab mix (75 lbs or so). He has done wonders with his training he sits well he used to have aggression issues and he is now over those.. the only real issue with him now is that he still jumps up on people. When I first got him I made the mista...

Re: Help! My dog has changed :/

Thanks for your response! :) Since he doesn't like his paws touched I've totally stopped trying to smell them like that.. The problem is that he has longish hair and it grows long in the center spot of his paws, and I cant get to it if he growls at me. I'm actually taking him to the groomers tomorro...

Re: My dog greets people by tackling them..

Thanks for the responses! So helpful. Id used the removal technique before (but before I removed him into another room for 30 sec or so) because he used to sit and bark at me while I was cooking lol.. That worked wonders. So I really think that what you recommended might work for him. The key is mak...

My dog greets people by tackling them..

So I think I made a mistake while "raising" my dog because whenever we would see him I think we would get overly loving and excited because he was so excited.. so now at 70 lbs and 1 year and a half old he still does this. For instance when people enter my house I can try to restrain him w...

Help! My dog has changed :/

So I have the sweetest dog, Humphrey, he is almost a year and a half. Re: Please help my dog is being so aggressive :(

Thank you for the reply that was very helpful. Its been such a concern for me because shes just a sweet dog and I dont want her to be having these behavioral problems. Especially since she used to absolutely love hiking and the dog park and since she is so high energy she used to just go there and p...

Just started positive training and am having great results!

Im really thrilled with how quickly and effectively switching my pups over to positive training has been. My small jack russel/beagle Zoey has learned to stay and not dash out the door. Also our new newfie pup has learned to stop jumping (which is welcome since he is huge lol). Its just been really ...

Re: Help with 2 chihuahuas

Hello! Congrats on your new dog! With me and my pups potty training was a little frustrating at first but I think with a little positive reinforcement and consistency was really helpful. I think simplicity works with potty training.. Take your puppy out often because puppys cant hold it as long as o...

Re: Jack russel/beagle

I only put her in her crate when I leave the house. Shes potty trained but she is only a year old and I have been trying leaving her out while Im gone for periods of time but if Im gone for 2 hours or so I dont really trust her being able to hold it (or wanting to hold it) so I put her in her crate ...

Jack russel/beagle

My jack russel/beagle Zoey sometimes gets very aggressive when she is laying down and we need to pick her up to move her or put her in her cage. She starts to snarls and ultimately will try to nip and bite at the person looking to pick her up. Normally I would punish her with a negative reinforcemen...

Dog being toy/bone aggressive with new pup

I have a 1 yr old jack russel beagle (Zoey) and a new 4 month old newfie lab (Humphrey). Im having trouble with my jack russel being toy and bone aggressive towards humphrey. For instance, I will give each of them a rawhide bone and Zoey will steal Humphreys take them both in her mouth and then go s...
