Mariana Jones, MJ to all who know her, is a passionate and experienced dog trainer (but prefers “family dog professional” as a title) whose ultimate goal is to empower every dog and human to live together harmoniously. She strives to foster a world filled with love, common understanding, and mutual respect between species.
MJ has become a recognized expert in her profession and her unique education and life experience brings a richness of knowledge to her clients, their dogs and her community. After graduating from the Victoria Stilwell Academy as a Certified Dog Trainer, she developed a thirst to learn as much as she could about canine behaviour. She holds certifications as a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT) and is a Family Dog Mediator® (FDM®) after completing the L.E.G.S® Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation Professional Course, created by the incredible Kim Brophey. Her commitment to professional growth led her to complete the renowned Michael Shikashio's Aggression in Dogs Master Course, further enhancing her skills and broadening her understanding of canine behavior. In addition, she has learned from other industry greats like Laura Donaldson, Grisha Stewart, Sarah Fisher, and many others. MJ is an avid learner who is constantly seeking new knowledge and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in canine behavior. Her drive to expand her expertise ensures that she provides the best possible care and guidance to her clients and their beloved dogs.
Her academic foundation has been instrumental in shaping her approach to her work, focusing on a holistic understanding of dogs and their needs. Once we figure out WHY a behaviour may be happening, based on the L.E.G.S® (Learning, Environment, Genetics and Self) of the dog, we can figure out HOW to help them and what we need to teach (if anything) so they can thrive in our human world.
MJ’s passion for teaching extends beyond her profession. She has a natural ability to connect with people and enjoys sharing her knowledge and insights on dog behavior. Whether she's participating in community events, writing articles for local magazines, volunteering with local rescues or providing one-on-one private sessions, MJ strives to educate and empower dog caregivers with the information they need to understand and communicate effectively with their dogs. Creating or strengthening the canine / human bond is something that she believes can make all the difference in the world.
MJ’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of dogs and humans shines through in her work. Through her empathetic and patient approach, she aims to transform the lives of both dogs and their owners, creating a world where every dog-human relationship is built on understanding, kindness, compassion, empathy, trust, and love.
At her core, MJ is a dedicated family dog professional, educator, and advocate, who wholeheartedly believes in the power of positive and compassionate training methods.
