Denise Armstrong is the founder of Red Dog Training, created and linked to her love of Setters and selfishly set up at the beginning to prove a point with Gun Dog Training Setters. It quickly evolved from offering only Gun Dog and Puppy classes to offering a wider range of activity classes such as Puppy, Teenage, Tricks, Gun dog, Agility and 'Grumpy but Great'.
She specialises in one-to-one coaching for loose lead walking and recall, recall being the foundation work of living with the breeds she does! Not only that but a reputation has been gained for integrating (where appropriate) dogs who may be struggling with confidence in life but love agility. It is very much inclusive rather than exclusive.
The Grumpy but Great classes came from a partnership with fellow, now retired trainer Gill Jolly, being born from both of us finding ourselves with great dogs, but not necessarily with other dogs. Common grounds led us both into the pathway of learning as much as we could to help our own dogs before joining forces to create this life and dog changing course. The learning pathway resulted in Denise gaining an MSc with Distinction in Clinical Animal Behaviour from University of Lincoln in the UK which is used to inform her Training and Behaviour support work.
Denise also presents many a webinar for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (UK), her favourite one being on 'all things setters' (did she say she likes setters).
Currently, Denise shares her home with an aging Irish Red Setter (Charlie), a nearly sensible English Setter (Dr. Watson), and an 'evacuee to the country' family adopted Cockapoo cross (Freddie) - did she say there's always space for another setter somewhere!
