J.Nichole Smith is an artist first and foremost, specializing in photography + graphic design. Nichole has also has answered to the title of author, creative director, consultant, partner, editor, business owner and marketer but she is probably best described as an “idea girl”.
While still in college, Nichole founded dane + dane studios {www.dane-dane.com}, a niché creative studio offering photography, design and consulting services for pet industry players of all sizes. At virtually the same time, Nichole co-founded Dog is Good® {www.dogisgood.com}, a venture she describes as a “lifestyle company specializing in gifts and apparel for dog lovers”.
Nichole’s emotive imagery and designs and have been featured in hundreds of animal, travel, photography, women’s and specialty magazines worldwide. Her portraits of pets appear in dozens of private collections as well as in the marketing materials, retail locations and corporate headquarters of several of her commercial clients, including Petco, Purina, Wellness, Halo, Trupanion, University of Washington, W Hotels and P.L.A.Y.
Nichole has contributed as a writer and photographer to the pet industry’s most influential publications and book titles. In October 2012, Nichole’s first coffee-table book “Puppyhood” (Abrams) hit shelves in the US and UK.
Currently, Nichole is attending a Masters program at Kingston University in London. She and her partner live in Twickenham, a charming British town with plenty of parks to wander with their Great Dane Olivia and their French Bulldog Charleston.
