Layla Morgan Wilde

Layla Morgan Wilde portrait-MerlinLayla Morgan Wilde is the multihyphenate founder and managing editor of Cat Wisdom 101. Since 2011 her award-winning online magazine has provided a platform to enlighten and entertain cat lovers everywhere. Their passion is transforming lives, one purr at a time.

Cats act as Layla Morgan Wilde’s creative muse and help her provide insights as a holistic cat behaviorist, an award-winning writer/photographer/speaker and is the official cat behaviorist for Tara The Hero Cat.

A life-long cat lover and passionate advocate for cats, Wilde founded the Toronto-based Annex Cat Rescue in 1997 where she created a unique foster program. In 2001, Wilde moved to the U.S. but the rescue/TNR organization with charitable status remain in operation and her legacy.

In the U.S. Wilde emerged as a thought leader when she shifted her focus from her life coaching clients to their pets. Her unique insights into the human/feline bond helped synthesize her approach as a holistic cat behaviorist. Her early background as a designer has served her well when creating environmental enrichment for cats in homes, offices and shelter settings. Wilde is the only holistic cat expert who tests and reviews the latest cat products with “thinking out of the box” creativity.

In her quest to deepen her understanding of both humans and their cats, she has found many alternative healing modalities ideal for both species including Reiki, massage, music therapy and flower essences. The practice of feng shui assists in creating harmonious environments and optimum placement of a cat’s litter box, feeding station, bed etc. Astrology and numerology helps gain insights into character and tools for choosing the ideal new pet’s name. It turns out both people and pets share the same goal: happiness. It begins with an open mind and heart.

Wilde is a professional member of the Cat Writers’ Association and a recipient of the Muse Medallion for photography in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and awarded a Certificate of Excellence for blogging in 2014. In 2014 she was elected to the CWA council. Since 2011 she has acted as a judge for the annual CWA awards contest and has reviewed hundreds of cat books. In 2014 she served as a judge for the annual Nose-To-Nose Awards at BlogPaws.

As a speaker, Wilde has presented in 2014 at Blogpaws, BarkWorld and CWA Conference. In 2015, she will present a panel bridging the gap between bloggers and journalists at BlogPaws. In addition to blogging at Cat Wisdom 101, she blogs at Boomer Muse and a regular contributor to Petfinder.com and Catster.com.

Active in social media pet advocacy campaigns including the ASPCA, Wilde is a passionate volunteer at the New Rochelle Humane Society where rehabs and fosters cats from hoarders and other challenging origins. A weekly blog feature showcases her shelter cat photography in creative adoption PSAs with a special focus on less adoptable cats.

Wilde is currently conducting a study on holistic pet loss and grieving. She is working on two book projects and is represented by  literary agent David Nelson of Waterside Productions. She lives in an antique farmhouse in Westchester County, NY. with her cat-loving filmmaker husband and a bevy of happy cat muses.
