Rotational feeding

Post by Wicket »

Is rotational feeding good for dogs? I've read that to prevent food allergies, it's best to alternate between protein sources in kibble and mixing between cooked and raw.

On a semi-related question, Mom thinks Maggie is bored with the current kibble and thinks we should mix Wellness and Natural Balance. Since each dog food has different nutritional profiles, is this okay too?

Thanks! :)

As with us, the widest variety in diet that is possible is healthiest. But that is "real food".

Kibble is a tricky one, as it is essentially an unhealthy unnatural way to feed a dog, and the cereals/sugars are hard for a dog to process properly. Therefore mixing kibbles may cause gastric upset - or may not.

In the days when I fed kibble (yes I really did  ) I found the dogs did better if I changed the brand/type frequently. This is not based on science  just something I found.
A dog is never bad or naughty - it is simply being a dog
