Rescue remedy question

Post by jacksdad »

I finally bought some rescue remedy. How much do I give him? Bottle says take direct or place in water. So I am guessing placing it in jacks water would be the easiest method. But how much? How often?

If it matters, Jack is 3 years old, 18 pounds. he is also on potassium bromide and phenobarbital for his epilepsy. do they factor in?

With so many dogs I have quite a big water bowl and put about 8 drops in, if giving to my dogs indivually I give about 6 drops. To give to my dogs I lift their lip and pop it between the lip and teeth.

Jack will only take what he needs, the excess will come out in his water, this is the beauty of flower essess, the dog or person only takes what they need. :D

can I ask why you would use Rescue remedy on a dog?

one of ours gets car sick and the vet has given us some travel sick tablets but I was wondering about using Rescue remedy?

Rescue Remedy is more of a first aid, if a dog has a shock, accident etc. it will help but it isn't meant to be used for any length of time. I use it on Bonfire Night for my dogs, or other times when the fireworks are bad, but I do build them up first with something like Serene-um, Stay Calm or Dene's Nerve.

For car sickness, I have found ginger capsules work very well, or ginger biscuits work for some. How big is your dog and how old? How long a journey can s/he stand before vomiting? If it is a stress issue, ginger won't help but a desensitising programme might; if pure motion sickness, ginger is pretty good for most.

Hi

pup is 16 weeks old and weighs 10.6kg most journeys so far have been around 20 mins, she is generally ok on the way there but throws up when we get back, usually just after the car has stopped. On one journey she was very wet around the mouth when I got her out of the crate and is usually very subdued.

At the moment they are travelling in thier crate in the back of the car, they can just about see out of the back window. Would then be better in a harness and on the back seat where they can maybe see forward or out the side window??????

The other one seems to be ok.

thanks

Karen
