"Cream" dobermans???

Post by OnceInAWeil »

This woman claims she has "non-albino" z factor dogs. Here is a link...what do you think? Personally, I think she's a BYB trying to pass off her whites as "creams" and "blondes."

BYB. She has the Z right there in her pedigree. Most irresponsible breeders will try and pass off albino as "cream" or "light fawn." They are 100% albino though, and from a horribly inbred line. They have so many health and temperament issues in a breed that is already plagued with health problems (I think it's 50-60% of dobies will die of dilated cardiomyopathy?), it just make my blood boil when I see people breeding the albinos. Adopt them, by all means, but never breed.

Wow, how interesting. Agree with you, Wes, adopt don't breed. It's hard not to have the reaction that they are gorgeous dogs regardless. It's too bad that people are using that in order to perpetuate the breeding.

found this kind of interesting

all of the dobies with an akc registration that starts with WZ are decedents of one litter. ....and that's where the albino mutation is coming from.

We have a rescued albino Dobe in Sampson's agility class. Her temperament is lovely, (she's HUGE, horribly oversized), but she can't really do much in bright sunlight. She seems to perform well in the indoor ring though. Her owners typically have to put sunblock on her as well. :(
