Hi Viz and Flashing Lights

Post by Nettle »

For those of you who very sensibly use hi-viz and flashing lights when walking your dogs in poor visibility - remember that other dogs can find them frightening, and so be extra reactive. And also if your dog is epileptic, arrange the light so s/he can't see it.

Babydog went into meltdown yesterday when one of her doggie acquaintances went by with a big flashing light on his collar.
A dog is never bad or naughty - it is simply being a dog

Ansa is also scared of weird lights and also headlamps on people (other than me...). So I treat for headlamps and turn mine off if we run into dogs also because otherwise I may shine it in Ansa's eyes. Ansa's light has a very slow blink, but maybe I'll turn it over to the unblinking mode. It's on the back of her harness so she can't really see it herself.

Like outside our agility hall we saw three colourful bouncing lights and a headlamp. Now, I knew it was a person walking three (handily colour-coded) dogs, but I can't imagine what Ansa was thinking. :D
