Smart chap!

With the tomato sauce or juice (either works) put on a rubber glove and massage it into the yukky bits of coat, then shampoo out. The tomato smell does linger, but it's better than the other smell!

Not great for white dogs as will temporarily stain them a delicate apricot.

Thanks Judy and lotsaquestions

Just got in , my results revealed I have a condition called candidiasis , candidia for short it's an overgrowth of a type of yeast in our guys but we also have it in our mouths. Anyway treatment is following the candida diet , eating a variety of natural anti fungal foods like garlic, onions ect and I have to take probiotics supplement capsules as well as eat live plain yogurt and other foods , drinks that are fermented with live bacteria. She told me to take apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water everyday as this can help massively if I do the above then my symptoms with start to improve but the diet is very strict. But my motivation is knowing I will get better once I do the diet , I also have to stay on it to stay better. https://www.thecandidadiet.com/foodstoeat.htm

These are some of the things I can't eat https://www.thecandidadiet.com/foodstoavoid.htm

Researched apple cider vinegar benefits as was surprised at some of the benefits so you might find it interesting https://draxe.com/apple-cider-vinegar

Later I'm going to pets at home to see which beds Sampson likes.

That is alot of food to avoid, but I guess with any restricted diet you do eventually get used to it. Glad you know what it is and there is a positive future ahead of you. When my mum discovered she has ceoliac disease it was hard at first to cut out the gluten, but you do end up discovering very interesting new recipes so its an adventure too! :)

Iv been reading recipies for homemade bread, yogurt for candida suffers :D it's global be hard at first though as I eat a lot of bread and pasta and I'm a massive lover of chocolate so cutting these out will be hard and one of my favourite treats is yogurt , berries and honey so I'm gonna miss honey. But once I see the symptoms disappear then it will be worth it :D

Forgot to say I read on the candida website that anyone can check if they have it with a test you can do at home what you do is in the morning before you eat or drink anything and before you brush your teeth you spit into a glass of water and if the spit starts to sink to the bottom then you could have very bad candida if it looks like the spit has legs then you might have mild candida which what my spit looked like or if your spit just floats ontop of the water than you have no candida.

I use cider vinegar a lot - it's rather nice.

BUT very bad for teeth, so rinse your mouth out thoroughly immediately afterwards and don't brush until half an hour, and preferably longer, has gone by.

A lot of foods that are 'good for us' are also 'bad for teeth' so it's an uneasy choice sometimes.

Glad it's something easy to treat! :)

I hate the taste of vinegar so my gp said to take it in warm water. I was very impressed with the health benefits so am looking forward to trying it. I was going to drink it with a straw for the benefit of my teeth but I still rinse my mouth. In a way at least this diet means I'm getting rid of all the rubbish food and will become a lot more healthier for it and eat what my body actually wants and needs not what I want :D

Best wishes with the diet ZaraD.

We have been driving the dogs to the park for walks recently as this allows OH to come along. He doesn't usually walk as far as we do, and taking him along tends to shorten the length of the walk that we take as he walks a distance comfortable for him and then goes and sits in the car wondering what is taking us so long.

We have encountered a problem with the dogs riding in the new car however. After a few trips, both dogs started avoiding having their car seatbelt harnesses put on. Sky would duck and dodge and Sirius would get hers on and then freeze. Once in the car, Sky would flop down on the seat and seem fine for the trip, while Sirius would stand in some kind of odd "my shoulder is glued to the seat back" kind of stance.

New car won't hold the crates used in the big van.

I did some research into box sizes for sled dog dog truck boxes and came up with a measurement that had potential if we turned the crates sideways to get them through the door. (The back seat area is wider than the far back area.) There was then the problem of how to secure them so that they wouldn't fall off of the seat and end up with the dog stuck in a corner. The crates in the big van tended to slide around some front to back and were never tied down as there were no lashing points to attach to. They were on the floor though with limited space to slide.

I also have never been comfortable with the boxes that we used in the van as I felt they wouldn't be much good in an actual automobile accident. I did find some crash tested crates online, however the size needed for my dogs would not fit two into the car.

After some more thinking on the subject, I am going to try a seatbelt clip to prevent the lap portion of the belt from sliding through and tightening down so that the dogs can't stand back up once they have sat or laid down. I am also purchasing crash tested seatbelt harnesses.

Sky has backed out of the current harnesses every long trip we have gone on, and Sirius has followed suit a couple of times. The crash tested harnesses buckle further back so will prevent back out. The current harnesses are not crash tested and are essentially a padded step in harness with a single buckle over the shoulders and seatbelt loop extending above the buckle. The new harness has the loop closer to the tail, which I am hoping will enable them to have their heads further away from the seat.

We should be able to test this out later this week. In the meantime, we are putting the dogs into the car backseat unsecured. For the most part, Sky lays on the seat and Sirius alternates between standing in the floor, standing with her front feet on the front console, and lying on the seat.

While Sirius has done some whimpering and whining when we drive past the dog park to park the car, she has not barked at any people or dogs that we have passed by. :D
Grammy to Sky and Sirius, who came to live with me, stole my heart, and changed my life forever as I took over their care and learned how to be a dog owner.

Yes indeed. I hope you find an easy solution.

I had mine custom-made by a friend. Do you know anyone who could do that?
