Thank you so very much for this information and for all the help.

Re: Victoria's Training

Her TV show is a lot of fixing existing issues. But the overall concept would be the same. I am also planning on getting a puppy. And I have noticed if you go on her site, and you go to Videos, there is a section for puppy videos. And she has created a handful of videos on training puppies and pupp...

Re: How to play with puppies

I suppose that makes sense. I have been looking into the Barn Hunt and Nose Work. I am pretty excited. Those look fun. It will be a long time before I think I will be able to do those. But I did find a school that did some Nose Work training. So that might be good. I plan to do some on my own. But I...

Re: De-worming and Flees/Ticks

Thank you both so much! This helps a lot!

Is it bad if the puppy chews on that collar?
I dunno if the puppy will. I just want to make sure.

De-worming and Flees/Ticks

I was wondering, how many times, when and how often, and until when do you de-worm a puppy?

I was also wondering when people do flee/tick things for their puppies. Like frontline plus? Or is there other options?
What do you recommend?

Re: How to play with puppies

I will definitely check that out!! I know puppies have small attention spans, but if I make it short and easy.. it could set up stuff. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to cause bad habits. Like one of Victoria's episodes.. where the guy has this beautiful black dog (looks like a German Sh...

Re: How to play with puppies

Oh! I thought they were going to list all 101 things you can do with the box and clicker and treats. lol I was thinking perhaps doing scent training with my pup. Miniature Schnauzers were ratters. So.. I figure I could do some scent training to help those instincts (and hopefully keep the puppy tire...

Re: How to play with puppies

I didn't understand the box link. Like it went step by step for something.. But not 101 uses for it. I will look at it more at it now that I have time. Finals are finally done!! Hmm I would love to be able to play with a dog that way, where they let go as soon as they feel any human hand. Are there ...

Re: Vent!

WHO JOKES ABOUT THINGS LIKE THAT!??!?!??!!??!? Poor Ki   That is awful. I dislike hearing about such things. Especially when it is people you care about or know and they treat animals so poorly (that or feel like it is no big deal to arm animals). Though I don't understand... it sou...

How to play with puppies

I guess this may seem like a dumb question, but I feel it would be good to get advice. I know from watching Victoria's show "It's Me or the Dog", that rough tug of war, and rough play can teach a puppy that biting is acceptable. And I get the idea that you can still play tug, but not quit...

Re: Toys

Braided fleece seems to be becoming the favored tug toy for many people - you can even make them yourself very easily! If your dog just wants to chew and chew and chew on it I still wouldn't leave them alone with it, but they are good tug toys. Kongs are great too - freezing them with a bit of pean...

Re: Toys

Best toys for puppies are cardboard boxes (without staples) card interiors to paper rolls, big raw vegetables that can be gnawed to death. Would cardboard boxes be one of those, only when supervised toys? The breeder I am getting my pup from seems to use them as well. I want some toys that can be u...

What are good toys for puppies? I am not sure what sort of chewing level I should be looking for and what is dangerous and not dangerous. Like squeakers can be dangerous.. yet they are loved by some dogs and owners. I hear rope toys are dangerous if the strings come off and the dog eats them, but y...

Re: Pet Cams

I am unsure how to record using my computer. But I may have an old phone that I could use to record and set up. I will definitely see.. Any other ideas of how to do so? Yeah I noticed GoPros are very expensive. And I don't even know how people know which ones to get. lol I am becoming a dinosaur. I ...

Pet Cams

I was wondering how many of you use one and what kinds? I have seen the one thread about video recording to see what triggers and talk of GoPro, which style works best do you find? I don't know much about video recorders. I was hoping to have something to catch moments of my pup when I am away. But ...
