Hi Ladybug
I'm just checking if you've noticed the post under 'Dog Training Articles' about all collars, including chokers, prongs and shocks.
It may be useful to you.

Re: Choke, prong and shocks can cause diseases
Hi Erica I'm sorry to hear about your dogs. The invisible fence may not have been responsible - who can say. But you can't help but wander and worry - I feel so guilty about so many things I did wrong with my dogs - or the lack of exercise they had etc.......... I hope they've forgiven me for being ...

Re: Squeezy water filled ball
Hi orion
Don't know anything about the ball, but Jake loves a balloon filled with water, if that's any use to you..

Re: Could do with some honest opinions
I would speak to your veterinarian or a behaviorist to see what they say about this possibility with Jake's OCD with lights, reflections, and shadows, and see if this is a possible cause or what else they think may be the cause of his epileptic seizures. If you will, please could you let us know? T...

Re: Could do with some honest opinions
Also, someone in this other forum mentioned the possibility of a light (reflecting light from an object in which the light source is either the sun, flashlight or torch, etc.) that dogs with OCD chase could be the "trigger" of these seizures. The thing is, no one knows exactly what trigge...

Re: Could do with some honest opinions
The only way you can almost guarantee that everyone else is safe is for him never to leave your house - you cannot control other people and if you take him for walks then you will meet other people at some point. I know only too well how many idiots will still walk up to a muzzled dog and touch it ...

Yes "fun stuff" Jacksdad but you have to admit it widens our education.
Great that things are settling a little, and good luck with the new meds.

Re: Could do with some honest opinions
last year I reached a point I actually started wondering IF I needed to think about putting Jack to sleep due to his seizures and the affects of the medication. The vets we were working with were basically refusing to consider that he was suffering the side affects of the medication because his blo...

Re: Could do with some honest opinions
Just a different slant, I have known several people with seizure disorders, and some of them are severe to the point of those people struggling to remember other people, how to read, how to speak properly, how to carry out day to day tasks. I know how terrifying these people find life at times, eve...

Re: I Need Your Help...
I just thought I'd give you some good news. I've joined another forum, and I'm saddened to realise how many owners use prong collars and e-collars. Well, a member has posted that she has joined a new training club, that only uses positive reinforcement, and she is unsure about the club, because they...

Re: Pushing the envelope.. ?
We avoid walking Jake after dark if we can. We think he's got to realise that there are more likely to be cats around at night, and he is on constant alert, walking very deliberately and ready to pounce in an instant, and as his eyesight is far superior to ours after dark, he can catch us unaware. H...

Re: I Need Your Help...
We stopped taking him out for weeks on end, we just couldn't cope with him, and were worried he would actually strangle himself, his choker pulled so tight (Not that it appeared to bothered him, I doubt he even noticed it, he was in such a frenzy) I hated it - there had to be a better way - for bot...

Re: Could do with some honest opinions
You've given me some good suggestions there Flyby - thank you. We are definately going with the blood tests first, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed we can find a solution to Jake's problems. He is such a lovely dog 99% of the time. At least I know he's no danger to anyone else, only me and John. E...

Re: Could do with some honest opinions
Thank you for your good wishes Judy.
And a very special thank you to Nettle and Emmabeth,
You have both been really helpful and supportive from the start, as was Mattie - even though you probably don't even remember - you help so many people everyday.
