Sleeping outside of kennel
I'm starting to give the boys a little more area of the house to roam while I'm asleep or while I'm gone. I was allowing them to stay outside during the day, but with it being so hot... Bear tends to get into the water tub and then he's a big mess! And they just got baths a week ago and I don't want...

Re: What kind of dog is she?
I was gonna say lab, I'm not good with mixes, but I don't see much in her that doesn't look labish... My dogs have different coats, but are both purebred labs. One is taller and stalkier, the other is a little shorter. One has a softer coat, the other has a more coarse thick coat. One has a tail tha...

Re: Labs??
My dad's lab is a little chunky also and he doesn't see it either. He does however get excited and wants to play, even though he doesn't get much exercise from my parents. He will though lay down and be the lazy house dog. My two labs on the other hand, are ALWAYS going! I don't have near the time f...

I need to work on recall with my boys :( Bear is great if there aren't any other dogs around. We go to my grandparen...

Re: "OFF!"
I like that you realzie that "off' and "down" are two different commands. I was wondering that as I read your post and then you said it! haha Just wanted to say great job on realizing that! I have problems with my parents continuely telling my dogs to "down" when they get on...

Re: New dog and baby on the way - Help?
I'm no expert either. But I do know that I have two labs that are both 2 years old and still very much puppies. I would never trust my boys to play safely with or around a small child. Also, I have heard plenty of times that labs have a "3 year puppy stage." Your child will be trying to wa...

Re: Harness or Collar, you decide.
I LOVE the halti gentle leaders (or what i call a head collar). I would NEVER walk my dogs without them! I even put it in Diesel the first time he went on a walk with me, Gunner, and Bear and after he hit at it a few times because it's different, he was fine! My dogs can't pull with them, and it mak...

Re: Deciding on Diesel's life...
I forgot to update this! haha Diesel is still with me.... :( Sad that I still have him because I can not afford him. But happy he is still alive! I heard him growl for the first time when he is around me today on our walk. BUT to his defense... He was growling at a lady with a baby stroller, holding...

Re: Fighting through kennels
Now there are days that I leave them in the backyard if it's a nice dry day and I'm gonna be gone awhile. They play in a small pool and lay in the sun. AND RUNN!!!!!! haha

Re: Fighting through kennels
Alrighty... I'm gonna work on getting them more walks in. And they love their kennels... They go in there on their own when we are just hanging around the house. I don't use their kennels for punishment and that's their "safe place". I feed them in there to keep them away from each other w...

Re: Fighting through kennels
No they have not outgrown their kennels... They have plenty of room! haha Normal day: They wake me up around 730am to go outside and get fed. I normally put them in their kennels and go to school. Come home before work to let them out and play around. (Or if i don't have to work I come home and they...

Fighting through kennels
So I'm having a problem with Bear and Gunner all of a sudden trying to what sounds like kill each other though their kennels. They are completely fine everywhere else. But within the past few months they have started trying to fight like seconds after I walk out of their room when they are in their ...

Re: Deciding on Diesel's life...
I think I may end up letting the boyfriend take him then. He doesn't have his kids but once or twice a month and he knows that he isn't good with kids right now. So he'll be aware when his girls are with him. I don't think my cousin's husband did anything to make the dog fearful of him because when ...

Deciding on Diesel's life...
Not sure this is the right place for this post. Diesel has come back to my house from my cousin's. This is the dog that I found on the side of the road. Thought he would be great with kids because he would allow me to pull on his ears, tail, lips, and act like an annoying little kid and would just s...
