Re: Feeding two dogs when one is a hungry hungry hippo
Thanks JudyN, Casey is definitely persistent. If she runs out of food or if her Kong is too tricky (we freeze them) she either barks and whines (which we ignore) or puts her paws on my knees so she can stretch up and get her tongue over the edge of the table. Which although pretty cute isn't the bes...

Feeding two dogs when one is a hungry hungry hippo
Hi, back again for more advice please! We are heading on a short break with our friends and their dog in Nov and I can foresee a bit of an issue. Their dog gets fed twice a day from a bowl. He takes his time and may leave some food and come back to it later. Our dog Casey is a bit different. She get...

Re: Dog scared of bikes - slip lead?
Thanks Erica, I probably should have said that as far as I know he's never got out of the harness as far as I know. When he bolts he's off lead. On lead he'll scrabble behind you and try to hide.

Dog scared of bikes - slip lead?
Hi, I'm asking this for a friend! Our friends have a 1.5 ur old pup that Casey spends time with during the week when we are at work. He's a lovely sweet dog but fearful. On walks he's scared of other people but one of the main issue is bikes. If he sees one he'll bolt and hide. They got him as a you...

Re: Just a little rant about being 'over protective'
Thanks jacksdad, we had a Sunday off this weekend and went camping, Casey did great in an unexpectedly noisy campsite, so by next weekend I'll have taken some deep calming breaths. We're not going to shift from positive training, it just makes sense to us.

Re: Just a little rant about being 'over protective'
Aww thanks for reading and your kind words Shali and JudyN! 4 years Shali! It's only been 3 weeks so far, I may get myself a big bottle of rescue remedy. I did feel the baby comment was a bit insensitive JudyN. I'm sure she didn't mean anything by it, just a thoughtless comment but it really stung. ...

Just a little rant about being 'over protective'
Just back from the in-laws and need to have a little vent. We have always gone to theirs on a Sunday but since we've got the pup we've only been going for a few hours and not having dinner. So today one of the order nieces was over and she loves animals. I thought it was weird that she didn't make a...

Re: Noticeable increase in barking - 7 month old pup
Thanks Nettle, we had our first training class on Saturday and she was the barkiest pup there! But we knew why she was barking so that's ok, we can work with it and we'll see how it goes this week. The trainer said its nothing to worry about, he says from the bark he thinks she's part dachshund, he ...

Re: Noticeable increase in barking - 7 month old pup
Thanks JudyN, the weather was ok on Saturday and sunny today. Casey does like being outside in the sun so that may have been a factor today when inside my friends flat. She wasn't barking when outside. She's been quiet tonight (so far) in the house. And we had a lovely quiet walk in the park where w...

Noticeable increase in barking - 7 month old pup
Hello, back again looking for some more advice please. Apologies in advance for the length, I'm not sure which bits might be important. Our pup Casey is now about 7 months old and seems to be settling in well. She's been with us just over a month now. However in the last week or so we're noticing a ...

Re: 6 month old pup jumping off furniture
Thanks everyone, makes me feel a lot better! I'll keep intercepting her, get more soft things down and the sandpit is a great idea. That goes on the shopping list. I'll have a read of the exercise the mind thread now

6 month old pup jumping off furniture
Hello, Our 6 month old pup Casey arrived from the shelter a week ago. She's lovely, very sweet natured and making herself right at home. It's great seeing her settle in. The shelter advised that Casey has had no training and we've started clicker training with her, she's a very clever girl and picki...
