Re: 11 week old puppy with possible aggression issues, etc, please help
Hi, I'm new too. :D I take it as a rescue you have no idea what age he was taken from his mum. If taken away too early, he would not have had a chance to learn social skills and how he should behave. Has he been checked for any possible pain? Just wondering as handling seems to be a bit of a trigger...

Re: Barking for attention?
Do you think he is bored? Have you tried interactive toys or even making your own out of boxes with things hidden inside? I am new so not sure of his breed or age.
So glad you ignored the shock collar idea....never heard of a bark box.

Re: Food schedules and aggressiveness
Sadly there are still people out there who believe a dog (or any animal for that matter) should do exactly what they say just because they say so and beating, bullying and scaring the animal into submission is how it's done. No relationship should ever be built on fear, whether it's human to human, ...

Re: Hairy Ear Canals
Hi,
Have you tried Thornit powder? Just a tiny pinch in the ear and then using a small flea comb, comb the hair but hold your thumb tight against the comb to pull out loose hair. It works a treat and leaves ears smelling lovely.

Hi Erica,
Not heard of that before but it sounds good. I take it you just use a small pinch and lightly smooth on the skin? What's in it do you know?

Re: In desperate need of help
Hi,
Oh that is sad, could your younger one behaving like this because she feels insecure and is using defence first rather than calmly dealing with how she is feeling?
I take it you have had a vet check done in case of pain causing her to behave like that?

Re: Dog parenting differences and dealing with those that dont train positively
Hi Lucie, I'm new too. Definitely stick to your guns, I don't think I would trust someone to look after my dogs if their training and management methods were so different, they may not mean to but they may act on habit and upset your dog. Then you have to go through all the trouble and stress (for y...

The Bloodhound and the Beardie
Hi,
Did anyone watch this on Eden last night? Very interesting and having working bred Beardies myself, I could really relate to poor Herbie.
Both stories had a really happy ending.
If you watched it, what were your thoughts on it?

Re: Stressed on walks.
Hi, I'm new here too. I agree with the others and wanted to add my thoughts. Have you thought about trying a Makuti or other front connecting harness? They are great for dogs who pull and also those who feel uncomfortable about being restricted when out for a walk. Does she have a friend who is calm...

Re: Any ideas?? We are all stumped now.
Thanks Nettle, that's great. I thought about trying the granulated charcoal so may try that first and possibly the tree bark powder that we have used in the past for others.
Thanks again, will let you know how we get on.

Any ideas?? We are all stumped now.
Hi, I wondered if anyone had come across this before or had any ideas. One of my spaniels (age 9) is obsessed with eating mud and after her meals she seems obsessed with picking up any bit of dirt, bit of leaf or twig etc off the floor. She has had all her front teeth removed on the top because they...

Hi all, I am a trainer (motivational force free of course) in East Kent. I'm a member of the Pet Professional Guild and am also a groomer with my own part time business. I got Victoria's book "train your dog positively" for Xmas and am enjoying it very much, I didn't realise there was a fo...
