Husky and Aussie/lab amount of exercise?

As you can probably guess, exercise is really key with both of these dogs. Currently, we are spending about 2.5-3 hours a day at the dog park divided up among three visits to help the Husky with potty training (she won't go on a leash. Posted in training.). Before the Husky, our Aussie/lab had a 1.5...

Re: Training to use the potty on Leash

Thank you for the advice! We are using a 6ft and 10 ft lead with her as well as the 4ft. On our walks, I have been encouraging her to explore behind bushes and other items. I turn my back and give her privacy. We almost had success yesterday, but I failed her. I thought she was just sniffing behind ...

Training to use the potty on Leash

We just rescued a 1 year old Husky Female from my partner's family. She was the college graduation present for my partner's sister and once she moved back home with the parents, they had issues with the dog. To be honest, my SIL did not take care of the dog and left the responsibility on her parents...

Re: Lying down, separation anxiety, jealousy?

Nettle-- Thank you for your comments! And you are so right, he is a teenager. I think I'll stick to keeping Berkeley and Jack out at the parks and beaches where they run and chase rather than wrestle and jump on each other for socialization over play dates at the house.

Re: Hi!

Sabrina-- thank you so much for warm welcome and all the info! I have been a long time lurker, but I know I need to read a bit more than just what my searching through topics produces! And thank you for the advice on the trainer! It is very solid and exactly what we did. We missed the March session ...

Lying down, separation anxiety, jealousy?

Hi Folks! Jack is a 15 month half Labrador, half Australian Shepherd we adopted from a rescue group in September when he was 9 months. He is one amazing dog. Very friendly, curious, fun loving, and just happy. We don't know much about his past but this is what we do know: He was caged for long perio...

Hi!

Hello! I'm from San Diego, California (hence the handle!) and the owner of a little over a year old Aussie Lab (Part Labrador, Part Australian Shepherd). We adopted Jack from a local rescue group in September when he was 9 months old. He picked us. He pawed at my partner which lead to us talking to ...
